Role Summary
The Senior Manager (or Manager), Corporate Communications and Patient Advocacy will play a critical role in executing our overall communications and patient advocacy engagement strategy. This role is responsible for development and execution of company and medicine communications for both external and internal audiences, with a strong focus on content strategy and development, including support for patient-facing activities; digital activations and AI optimization; and media engagement to drive awareness and appreciation of Nuvation Bio and its portfolio.
Responsibilities
- Support engagement of key advocacy stakeholders, which could include: patients, caregivers, healthcare providers, and advocacy groups for engagement and collaboration based on mutual goals.
- Develop, management, and maintenance of strategic corporate and PR communication materials, including press releases, presentations, Q&As, digital content, internal communications and more.
- Support critical thought leadership efforts, to include short- and long-form content across platforms and audiences.
- Develop compelling, authentic, and consistent messaging related to Nuvation Bio’s strategies, initiatives, pipeline, and performance. Ensure that all communications incorporate Best Practices and comply with pertinent SEC rules and FD regulations.
- Work collaboratively with the Corporate Communications and Patient Advocacy team, as well as with other functional leadership and related agencies, to ensure consistent messaging for external/internal stakeholders, maximizing efficient use of resources
- Own specific workstreams that support external and internal communications initiatives and patient advocacy engagement, including media relations, digital and social media campaigns, patient ambassador relationships and patient advocacy related projects.
- Support the crafting of regular progress reports and presentations for key stakeholders, including the executive committee and cross-functional team, to provide updates on program performance and milestones.
- Maintain pulse on disease-area landscapes from public sentiment, competitor positioning and advocacy-related efforts.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree and a minimum of 5-7+ years of experience working in the biotech/pharmaceutical industry, with direct experience designing and executing corporate communications within a publicly traded company and/or in an agency setting.
- Proven ability to speak the language of a pharmaceutical/biotech company and break down complex scientific concepts for both internal and external audiences.
- Demonstrated track record of conducting successful, proactive communications efforts that employ creativity and use of a variety of tools, forums, media and metrics.
- Experience developing thought leadership content for the company across various audiences and ability to pivot based content based on audience.
- Understanding of the advocacy landscape and core engagement principles / best practices.
- Trusted for flawless execution of proactive and reactive initiatives.
- Maintains strong relationships with healthcare reporters, and industry media.
- Knowledge of up-to-date compliance, legal, regulatory and other issues that impact communications and can apply them, accordingly, including knowledge of SEC and disclosure requirements.
- Strategic agility, able to balance proactive/planning with reactive elements of the position. Thrives in the opportunity to support the full spectrum of biotech communications and patient advocacy needs, from internal communications efforts to medical meetings to thought leadership, and can successfully toggle as needs arise.
