Role Summary

The Senior Manager of Accounting is responsible for managing Xeris’ Corporate Accounting and Equity functions. This role will manage the monthly and quarterly close processes, ensuring compliance with U.S. GAAP, overseeing stock-based compensation and equity accounting, and supporting internal and external reporting requirements.

Responsibilities

  • Corporate Accounting: Manage the monthly, quarterly, and annual close processes for corporate functions (e.g., payroll, benefits, intercompany, accruals, leases, etc.); Ensure compliance with U.S. GAAP and internal accounting policies; Lead the preparation and review of journal entries, account reconciliations, and variance analyses; Support external financial audits and coordinate audit deliverables; Monitor and manage cash flow, investments, and funding needs; Partner with FP&A and other departments to provide accurate and timely financial information; Maintain and improve internal controls and processes across the accounting function.
  • Equity Accounting: Accountable for the accounting and reporting of stock-based compensation, including valuation, expense recognition, and disclosures; Work closely with Legal and HR to monitor equity transactions (stock options, RSUs, ESPP, etc.); Reconcile equity accounts and ensure timely and accurate reporting; Prepare equity-related financial statement disclosures in accordance with ASC 718; Manage relationships with third-party equity administration platforms (e.g., ComputerShare, E*Trade).
  • Technical Accounting: Research, interpret, and apply complex accounting standards (US GAAP); Prepare detailed technical accounting memos to support conclusions; Assist with special projects, M&A due diligence, and integration as needed.
  • Team Leadership & Collaboration: Manage and mentor a team of accounting professionals; foster professional development and cross-functional collaboration; Drive process improvement and automation initiatives to scale accounting operations for a fast-growing company; Ensure organization readiness for scale by supporting the implementation of new accounting standards and systems as needed.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance; CPA required
  • 7+ years of progressive experience in accounting, including Big 4 or national public accounting firm experience
  • In-depth knowledge of U.S. GAAP, including equity and stock-based compensation accounting (ASC 718)
  • Experience working in a public company environment strongly preferred
  • Strong technical accounting skills, to include demonstrated understanding of equity-related matters
  • Strong systems experience (e.g., Business Central, Workiva, E*Trade, etc.)
  • Proven leadership experience with the ability to manage and develop high-performing teams

  • Working Conditions: Position may require periodic evening and weekend work. This is a hybrid position located in Xeris’ Chicago office with a minimum of three days per week in the office. On-site requirements may change at management’s discretion.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with SEC reporting (10-Q, 10-K) and equity plan administration
