Clinical Research and Development
Objective/Purpose:
- The Senior Manager, Clinical Partner Outsourcing (CPO) ensures seamless execution of clinical studies by developing robust supplier contracts through commercial negotiations and resolving commercial and operational challenges, ensuring on-time study starts aligned with business requirements and Takeda standards.

Accountabilities:
- Develop and finalize study-level contracts and change orders aligned to Master Service Agreements.
- Lead ballparking, contracting, and commercial management of complex clinical studies.
- Apply commercial constructs to enable study start with evolving assumptions.
- Use cost models/workbooks to validate pricing and budget assumptions; improve validation capabilities.
- Drive negotiations with CROs and suppliers to secure optimal terms.
- Manage contract amendments across the study lifecycle; support final reconciliation at closeout.
- Build relationships with Clinical Operations and stakeholders; generate preliminary cost estimates for budget planning.
- Address commercial/contractual challenges with contingencies and escalate as needed.
- Ensure contractual terms match operational implementation; provide operational support/issue resolution.
- Serve as SME and lead continuous improvement using benchmarking; anticipate external industry trends impacting operating/cost model.
- Ensure compliance with applicable internal policies/procedures and support inspection readiness; lead/participate in special projects.

Education & Competencies:
- Bachelor’s required; advanced degree (e.g., MBA) or certifications (e.g., PMP, CPA) preferred.
- 7+ years in pharma or clinical research.
- Cross-functional/region experience; clinical procurement/contract management/supplier relationship management.
- Strong knowledge of clinical trial processes, regulatory requirements; GCP/ICH.
- Experience with contract negotiations, financial analysis, and budget management.
- Familiarity with CRO and clinical outsourcing models.
- Strategic thinking, project management, strong written/verbal communication.
