Role Summary

Senior Manager, Business Analytics & Portfolio Strategy responsible for strategic competitive intelligence and integration of CI into R&D and portfolio strategy, with emphasis on platform-based innovation and technology trends. Collaborates with R&D, Commercial, and Business Development to position Immunocore’s pipeline for long-term success in a rapidly evolving immuno-oncology landscape.

Responsibilities

  • Strategic Competitive Intelligence:
    • Analyze and track companies, products, and technology platforms, focusing on platform-based innovation and competitive positioning
    • Identify new developments and implications for Immunocore’s strategy, especially in emerging technology platforms
    • Translate detailed competitor and platform analysis into clear summaries and implications
    • Serve as a subject matter expert on key indications and platform technologies, acting as a reference for CI questions from senior leadership
    • Partner with the portfolio strategy team to ensure analyses are comprehensive and actionable
    • Ensure outputs are evidence-based and underpinned by thorough analysis
    • Conceive and deliver specific competitive intelligence projects to support business needs
    • Communicate learnings from key congresses, competitor presentations, and technology showcases
    • Refine and maintain summaries of key competitive landscapes (platforms, targets, indications)
    • Monitor evolving standards of care and technology trends to anticipate future challenges and opportunities
    • Lead cross-functional workstreams and undertake deep dives as required to inform strategy
    • Support research team in strategic competitive intelligence needs
  • Early Commercial, Program & Portfolio Strategy:
    • Collaborate with Program Leaders/Teams to integrate CI into clinical trial design, indication selection, and investment decisions
    • Conduct market assessments including patient segmentation, treatment algorithms, and unmet needs
    • Develop benchmarking and target product profiles (TPPs) to align clinical decisions with future commercial success
    • Partner with the commercial team to ensure longer-term commercial considerations are integrated early in strategic development
  • Executive Engagement & Strategic Communication:
    • Deliver high-impact presentations and strategic briefings to Executive Leadership
    • Represent CI in governance forums and cross-functional strategic initiatives
    • Deliver analyses to inform decisions for new R&D areas and long-range strategy
    • Partner with multiple functions to understand and anticipate needed insights across the portfolio
    • Undertake bespoke analyses on topics to inform R&D strategy
    • Identify opportunities for analysis to inform portfolio strategy
    • Partner with Business Development to evaluate external opportunities when needed

Qualifications

  • Experience & knowledge:
    • Excellent analytical abilities
    • Experience performing complex competitor and market opportunity analysis in biopharma, oncology preferred
    • Ability to collate and structure data from multiple sources into a clear narrative
    • Understanding of scientific, clinical and market data to identify patterns
    • Understanding of the drug development process
    • Familiarity with technical materials and sources for competitive information
    • Experience in global matrix environments across functions, seniority, and locations
    • Ability to independently undertake competitive analysis projects
    • Ability to influence without authority and credibly engage senior audiences

  • Education & Qualifications:
    • Undergraduate degree (BA/BS) in life sciences or equivalent
    • 3+ years of direct Biotech/pharma experience via industry, banking, or consultancy
    • Experience in oncology strongly preferred
    • Professional experience in market and competitor insight roles
    • Business or financial qualification advantageous but not essential
