The Role

The Manager, Biomarker Operational Excellence will be tasked with assisting in the strategy and innovation across the Moderna’s Clinical Biomarkers ecosystem. The qualified candidate will take on responsibilities for supporting operational efficiency related to general biomarker operations, budget forecasting, procurement, and contracting review, inspection readiness and digital best practices.

This position will work closely with business operations partners throughout Moderna and will liaison broadly with internal groups such as Biomarker Leads, Biomarker Operations, Biomarker Program Specialists, Clinical Biomarker Labs, and BMA Labs.

The ideal candidate will have a background in areas such as: project management, biomarker operations, business operations, as well as financial accruals and forecasting within the life science, pharmaceutical, or biotech space.

Here’s What You’ll Do

  • Support strategic initiatives that will address mission-critical questions and position the growing Biomarkers Division for future success.
  • Focus on using judgment to identify, troubleshoot, and resolve day-to-day technical and operational problems.
  • Work closely with the Associate Director to support financial planning deliverables, such as quarterly forecasting, actuals reporting, variance analysis, budgeting, and long-range planning.
  • Partner with teams across the Moderna business ecosystem; finance, procurement, outsourcing and contracts, and quality, to maximize business performance, efficiency, collaboration, and harmony.
  • Independently Maintain Biomarker Management Tool tracking including creating Smartsheet/Excel Tracking sheets daily.
  • Maintain Inspection Readiness through, ETMF documentation oversight, quarterly study auditing, and continuous improvement alongside Core Biomarker Study Teams.
  • Support the strategic initiatives that drive maximum potential.

Here’s What You’ll Bring To The Table

  • Bachelor’s degree required, advanced degree (MBA (Master of Business Administration) or life sciences MS) preferred with 3 years of experience in an operational or project management role within a biotechnology or pharmaceutical organization.
  • Must have experience in the accruals and forecasting process.
  • Effective communication with colleagues of various backgrounds, including scientific, technical, business, and legal staff.
  • Smartsheet and other ERP experience required.
  • Ability to develop trust with cross-functional stakeholders and manage daily activities of BioPulse (Moderna Management Tool).
  • Excellent interpersonal, organizational, and collaborative skills.
  • Ability to work independently and effectively in a fast-paced and highly dynamic environment.
  • Core project management strengths with tools and best practices for reporting, tracking, data collection, synthesis, budgets.
  • Strong track-record in implementing and supporting strategies that drive maximum potential realization.
  • Must be adept with quick turnaround times and accuracy on reports and data review.
  • Highly collaborative, genuinely enjoys working together with internal and external teams to develop solutions that advance Moderna’s overall mission.
