Role Summary
The Senior Manager, Bioethics, Policy & Partnerships (BPP) will support the end-to-end processes and systems for the BPP team, reporting to the Director. The role involves coordinating bioethics activity tracking, committee communications, training programs, mentoring circles, and cross-BPP initiatives. Location: Horsham, PA; New Brunswick, NJ; Raritan, NJ; Spring House, PA; Titusville, NJ.
Responsibilities
- Manages Bioethics Activity Tracking & Archival: Facilitates the tracking and archival of bioethics-related activities, including consultations, presentations, training, policy development and implementation, and projects.
- Manages Bioethics Activity Tracking & Archival: Ensures timely follow-up and tracking of bioethics-related activities, including status of activity, completion of action items, and collection and documentation of final outcomes and stakeholder feedback.
- Manages Bioethics Activity Tracking & Archival: Partners with other BPP colleagues to drive continuous process improvement through the generation, analysis, and consolidation of bioethics-related metrics and KPIs into the overall BPP Metrics/KPI reporting.
- Supports Bioethics Operational Activities: With guidance from the Director, BPP and Sr. Director, OCMO Policy Strategy & Development, reviews J&J commenting opportunities to determine if comments should be requested from BPP-related committees and/or OCMO representatives; facilitates collection, collation, and timely follow up with J&J commenting leads.
- Supports Bioethics Operational Activities: Partners with the Director, BPP to develop initial presentations and draft meeting summaries for BPP-related committees.
- Supports Bioethics Operational Activities: Supports the Director, BPP in communicating with teams requesting Committee Consultations to ensure pre-read materials are prepared and distributed to JJBC members in advance of the meeting.
- Supports Bioethics Operational Activities: Develops JJBC Newsletter and distributes to JJBC members and BPP LT following review by the Director, BPP.
- Supports Bioethics Operational Activities: Partners with the Director, BPP to maintain materials, such as committee charters, templates, reference materials, etc. for BPP-related committees, e.g., JJBC, JJCAT, DT CoP (Data Transparency Community of Practice).
- Supports Bioethics Operational Activities: Partners with Communications team to facilitate updates to the Bioethics Hub content and communications.
- Supports Bioethics-related Training Program: Partners with administrative support on the scheduling of bioethics training activities, including workshops, mentoring, ambassador program, and Bioethics Exchange program.
- Supports Bioethics-related Training Program: Provides training administrative support for the setup of learning management system processes and materials to support bioethics-related training activities.
- Supports Bioethics-related Training Program: Supports Director, BPP in the maintenance and continuous improvement of the bioethics-related training and education program processes and materials.
- Facilitates Bioethics Mentoring Circle Cohorts: Manages communications with J&J employees who have completed the Bioethics Workshop to drive participation in the Bioethics Mentoring Circle; maintains documentation of past/current mentee cohort participants and future waiting lists.
- Facilitates Bioethics Mentoring Circle Cohorts: Supports rollout and expansion of the bioethics mentoring circle program into other global regions, e.g., Asia Pacific, Latin America, Europe.
- Facilitates Bioethics Mentoring Circle Cohorts: Partners with administrative support on scheduling mentoring circle meetings.
- Facilitates Bioethics Mentoring Circle Cohorts: Partners with mentee cohort participants and mentors to identify timing and topics for Bioethics Mentoring Circle meetings.
- Facilitates Bioethics Mentoring Circle Cohorts: Partners with mentors to support the development/update and sharing of topic-related presentations and case studies in advance of mentoring meetings.
- Facilitates Bioethics Mentoring Circle Cohorts: Provides administrative support for set-up and maintenance of the learning management system modules for each mentee cohort.
- Facilitates Bioethics Mentoring Circle Cohorts: Maintains library of bioethics-related case studies and topics for use in future mentoring circle cohorts.
- Supports Cross-BPP Activities: Supports BPP-related benchmarking and monitoring of the external landscape.
- Supports Cross-BPP Activities: Supports Director, BPP in the tracking of BPP goals and objectives by obtaining regular status updates from BPP leadership team members.
- Supports Cross-BPP Activities: Partners with BPP leadership and Communications team as requested by leadership to support messaging for BPP-related activities.
Qualifications
- Education: Bachelor’s degree required; Master’s degree strongly preferred.
- Experience: A minimum of 5 years of increasing business experience with a pharmaceutical/biotech/MedTech company; previous R&D/scientific experience required; travel anticipated at approximately 5% regional or international.
- Preferred: Demonstrated ability to develop as well as implement work product/documents within an R&D setting; strong teamwork and facilitation skills; highly organized with project management experience; well-developed interpersonal, networking, and written and oral communication skills; experience on a product development team; consistent track record of identifying, quantifying, and mitigating risk to meet ethical, legal and compliance standards and business objectives.
