Responsibilities
Clinical Study Financial Intelligence:
- Analyze clinical trial expense variances vs. operational metrics (enrollment, site activations, protocol amendments, vendor activity) to identify temporary vs. structural cost changes.
- Partner with Clinical Operations to understand study plan pivots, enrollment/vendor issues, and drivers of financial deviations; summarize insights for Director and leadership.
- Monitor performance metrics and flag operational developments likely to impact near-/long-term finances.
- Prepare variance commentary and study-level financial summaries.

Budgeting & Forecasting:
- Validate clinical trial expense projections in Condor using correct operational inputs and reasonable outputs.
- Update forecasts for evolving study circumstances (enrollment, amendments, vendor changes).
- Support periodic financial reviews with commentary and materials.
- Assist scenario analysis for financial impact of study-level changes/risks.

Financial Analysis & Reporting:
- Analyze clinical development costs and contextualize results vs. operational metrics.
- Support Director/senior leadership with expense trends, risks, and study dynamics.
- Build metrics/analytics and reporting templates; develop models and internal benchmarks.

Cross-Functional Collaboration & Process Improvement:
- Collaborate with Clinical Operations and Accounting to connect actuals and accounting treatments to clinical expense results.
- Support cost-savings/efficiency initiatives and improve planning/accrual/reporting processes; establish best practices.

Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, Life Sciences, or related.
- 4–7 years FP&A experience (clinical/life sciences exposure preferred).
- Strong understanding of clinical trial protocols and operational study dynamics (pivots, enrollment challenges) strongly preferred.
- Knowledge of accruals and expense projection methodologies (clinical trial accrual experience preferred).
- Proficient in Excel and PowerPoint; Condor/SAP/analytics tools preferred.
- Intellectual curiosity, comfort with ambiguity, strong attention to detail, strong synthesis/communication, and collaboration.
- Based in San Francisco; occasional travel; in office 2–3 days/week.
