Senior Machine Learning Scientist, Climate & Hydrology

Role: Senior Machine Learning Scientist specializing in Climate and Hydrology, leading development of hydrology-aware climate modeling within an environmental modeling platform. Responsibilities: direct scientific and technical efforts at the intersection of hydrology, climate science, and ML; set research priorities; develop and refine ML-based environmental prediction models; work with large climate, remote sensing, and hydrological datasets; establish reproducible workflows; evaluate model performance and scientific robustness; communicate findings internally and externally; contribute to scientific roadmap and team growth. Requirements: PhD in Earth science, atmospheric science, hydrology, AI, or related field; 5+ years in climate ML, weather ML, or earth system modeling; proven publication record; experience with large climate datasets and cloud infrastructure (preferably AWS); strong coding skills in Python and ML frameworks like PyTorch; background in scientific ML, data assimilation, or physics-ML hybrid methods. Preferred: experience leading cross-disciplinary teams, mentoring, and defining research strategies. High-value: environmental prediction, climate modeling, hydrology, ML, large-scale datasets, cloud computing, and cross-functional collaboration. Location: Cambridge, MA or Boulder, CO (some travel to MA).
