Role Summary

Senior Finance Manager, R&D Finance – Clinical Development, Oncology. Responsible for financial planning and analysis within R&D Clinical Development, providing data-driven decision support, managing planning processes (monthly/quarterly/LRP/LBEs), and leading a small team in Oncology Solid Tumors. Hybrid role based in Lake County, IL.

Responsibilities

  • Be a trusted adviser for Oncology Solid Tumors Development Teams
  • Participate in R&D business partner meetings, delivering decision support through data-driven analysis and guiding budget-efficient outcomes
  • Collaborate with the R&D organization to deliver financial commitments and identify growth value drivers within the Oncology Solid Tumors portfolio
  • Develop insights and actions to manage deviations from plan and align financial analysis across functions, identifying opportunities to invest, reduce costs, and mitigate risks
  • Oversee monthly, quarterly, Plan, LRP, and LBEs as required
  • Provide variance analysis for planning cycles and develop management reporting schedules ensuring accuracy and predictability of results and key metrics
  • Lead financial discussions with R&D Therapeutic and Finance leadership on Clinical spend implications to enable informed decisions
  • Develop strong relationships with key members of R&D and Global Finance organizations
  • Supervise a team of three, including two direct reports in Early Oncology

Qualifications

  • Minimum 7+ years of progressive and/or related experience
  • Proven ability to act as a trusted advisor and develop strategic insights to drive decisions
  • Strong leadership and communication skills, with ability to tailor information to customer needs
  • Ability to influence both up and down an organization
  • Team player who can constructively challenge the status quo
  • Self-starter who operates independently, drives processes, and implements improvements with speed and agility
  • Ability to identify process improvement opportunities and drive continuous improvement
  • Strong financial, analytical, and problem-solving skills
  • Preferred: SAP & BPC experience
