Role Purpose
- Support developmental activities delivering gene therapy to patients, characterizing gene therapy products with a technical focus on mass spectrometry.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, plan, and perform protein mass spectrometry product characterization studies; optimize/implement analyses including peptide mapping (PTMs), intact/middle-down MS (variants), and quantitative methods (TMT labeling, label-free quantitation).
- Use chromatography (HPLC), capillary electrophoresis (CE), and biophysical assays for characterization and lot release/stability monitoring.
- Contribute to project strategy and implementation; apply scientific/technical/GMP and/or quality expertise to address complex R&D issues.
- Coach team members; contribute to global technical strategies; maintain/qualify equipment and manage lab operations as assigned.
- Identify, develop, validate, and implement novel analytical assays and GMP-compliant methodologies for pipeline gene therapy products.
- Drive timelines and deliverables; meet internal quality and data integrity requirements.
- Resolve technical challenges; communicate and present complex data cross-functionally.
- Author/review method development reports, SOPs, validation reports, and technical documents for regulatory filings.
- Advance analytical development for clinical/commercial manufacturing; identify new technologies/instrumentation to improve workflows.
Essential Requirements
- BS+ >5 years industry experience (or MS+ >4 years; PhD+ >2 years; PhD preferred) in Analytical Chemistry/Biology/Biochemistry/Molecular Biology/Immunology or related.
- Strong protein mass spectrometry and analytical chemistry knowledge; AAV/LVV analytics experience preferred.
- High-resolution MS required; Thermo Tribrid MS valued.
- Proficiency with analytical software (Byos, Proteome Discoverer, BioPharmaFinder, Xcalibur) and basic knowledge of Chromeleon/Empower/ChemStation/32Karat.
- Strong background in gene therapy, cell biology, and drug product development.
- Collaborative, fast-paced environment; ability to learn quickly.
Pay Range
- $108,500β$201,500/year at commencement (final pay depends on factors such as location and experience).
