Role Summary

Senior Executive Protection Specialist to safeguard executive leadership team, including the CEO and founders, in a fast-paced, high-visibility environment. Role requires discretion, extensive executive protection experience, and the ability to manage security challenges in a tech setting.

Responsibilities

  • Provide armed close protection for executives during travel, public appearances, and at corporate or private events.
  • Lead executive protection operations for senior Caris executives and Caris Facilities routinely.
  • Develop and implement security strategies that address potential threats, risks, and vulnerabilities.
  • Conduct detailed advance work, including site assessments, travel route planning, and threat analysis for domestic and international trips.
  • Collaborate with internal teams (e.g., Legal, HR, IT Security) to ensure holistic protection strategies.
  • Monitor digital and physical threats, including those arising from social media, activism, or corporate espionage.
  • Maintain a low profile while ensuring a high level of readiness and professionalism.
  • Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to ensure the safety and security of high-level personnel during travel and events, i.e. law enforcement, private security, and international security partners.
  • Prepare and maintain detailed incident reports, travel logs, and risk assessments.
  • Provide expert investigations and analysis support to Counterintelligence, Investigations, and Threat Management.
  • Train and mentor junior protection agents and support staff in best practices and company protocols.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • 7–10+ years of experience in executive protection, military special operations, or federal/State/Local law enforcement.
  • 3+ years working in a full-time certified law enforcement officer position(s).
  • Valid license to carry a firearm and strong understanding of applicable state and federal laws.
  • Capable of obtaining State of Texas Level IV Security Certification (PPO License).
  • Advanced medical training (e.g., EMT, TCCC, CPR/AED Instructor).
  • Expertise in developing and implementing comprehensive protection plans.
  • Proficiency in collecting and analyzing information from reliable sources.
  • Proficiency in conducting risk assessments and managing executive related threats.
  • Proactively identify, evaluate, and manage risks that could adversely impact executive leadership or major corporate events.
  • Serve as the expert on executive security risks, advocating for balanced and appropriate risk mitigation strategies.
  • Develop, document, and implement logistical and safety plans for both routine and threat-based scenarios.
  • Provide senior leadership with pertinent safety and logistical information and recommendations.
  • Proficient skills in creating and executing emergency response plans.
  • Strong ability to work with internal teams, external agencies, and law enforcement.
  • Ability to ensure safe and efficient travel arrangements. Drive the CEO on need basis.
  • Clear and effective communication with executives and stakeholders.
  • Proficiency in defensive driving, emergency medical response, and threat mitigation.
  • Excellent judgment, discretion, and communication skills.
  • Proven tactical capabilities.
  • Ability to travel frequently and work flexible hours (24/7, 365); including nights and weekends.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in related field, or equivalent work experience, preferred.
  • Prior experience supporting C-suite executives or founders in high-growth tech environments or publicly traded companies.
  • Advanced medical training (e.g., EMT, TCCC, CPR/AED Instructor).
  • HR-218 (LEOSA) eligibility.
  • ALERRT Certification Preferred.
  • Multilingual capabilities, especially languages relevant to international travel (e.g., Spanish, Mandarin, Arabic).
  • Familiarity with technical surveillance countermeasures (TSCM) and digital threat monitoring tools.
  • International or domestic field/travel experience beneficial.
  • Experience with cybersecurity protocols and collaboration with IT security teams.
  • Knowledge of corporate crisis management and business continuity planning.
  • Certification in behavioral threat assessment or workplace violence prevention (e.g., ATAP, WAVR-21).
  • Experience working with intelligence platforms and OSINT tools for threat detection.
  • Leadership experience managing staff in security operations centers (SOCs), coordinating with GSOCs, or general security teams.
  • Familiarity with privacy laws and executive data protection best practices.
  • Experience in managing security logistics for large-scale tech events, conferences, or product launches.
  • Training in de-escalation techniques and non-lethal force options.
  • Experience with secure communications technology and encrypted mobile platforms.

Physical Demands

  • General work environment – sitting for extended periods, standing, walking, typing, carrying, pushing, bending. Indoors with variable lighting and climate control.
  • Occasional lifting of up to 50 pounds.

Other

  • On Call 24/7, 365 days.
  • Travel up to 25%.
