Role: Senior/Executive Director of Reverse Translation in Oncology at Johnson & Johnson, leading a laboratory-based group focused on elucidating mechanisms of drug action, resistance, and combination strategies across the oncology therapeutic area. Objectives include translating clinical observations into laboratory hypotheses to inform pipeline development, addressing high-priority mechanistic questions, and supporting discovery efforts. Responsibilities encompass managing and consolidating a wet-lab team, leading independent research studies, developing next-generation hypotheses, designing combination and resistance-reversal strategies, and overseeing platforms such as omics, functional biology, and models like organoids. The role involves close collaboration with Discovery, Medical Affairs, and Commercial functions, contributing to scientific publications, and shaping organizational scientific strategy. Qualifications required include a PhD, MD, or MD/PhD in cancer biology or related fields, with over 10-12 years of hands-on experience in oncology discovery or translational research, proven laboratory leadership, and a strong publication record. Preferred skills involve multiomics, computational biology, and experience with shelved program analyses. The position is based in Spring House, PA, Cambridge, MA, or San Diego, CA, and involves strategic leadership in a cross-functional, matrix environment, with potential for team growth.
