Responsibilities:
- Conceive and execute novel scientific research or development to achieve project and area goals.
- Generate new scientific proposals and lead those efforts.
- Investigate, identify, develop, and optimize new methods and techniques.
- Act as a lead scientist; critically evaluate scientific and regulatory advances and integrate them into research/development programs.
- Resolve key project hurdles and assumptions using available information and technical expertise.
- Publish research in peer-reviewed journals and present work at scientific conferences.
- Proactively seek and incorporate new literature information into individual projects and the overall program.
- Pursue project-relevant leads aligned with the group’s strategy.
- Maintain a high level of productivity in the lab.
- Understand and adhere to corporate standards on code of conduct, safety, material handling, controlled drug/radioactive compounds, GxP compliance, and animal care where applicable.
- May mentor/supervise one or more team members and guide/evaluate performance; accountable for team effectiveness.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree (typically 12 years experience) OR Master’s degree (typically 10 years) OR PhD (typically 4 years).
- Thorough theoretical and practical understanding of own scientific discipline.
- Effective writer and communicator of research and regulatory materials.
