Key accountabilities/responsibilities:
- Provide strategic leadership to set the direction of the translational genetics team; align with evolving organizational priorities and committed timelines.
- Use expertise in genetic analysis and integration of genetics with genomics (including proteomics) and clinical phenotypic data to address translational questions and generate disease-relevant at-scale insights.
- Provide hands-on analytical expertise to accelerate work packages impacting the GSK drug development pipeline.
- Work within and lead cross-functional project teams as appropriate, with emphasis on respiratory, hepatology, neurodegeneration, immunology and/or renal disease.
- Identify, set up, and oversee external strategically aligned scientific collaborations.
- Communicate analysis findings with expert interpretation to project teams and senior leaders.
- Deliver personal and team objectives with strong statistical/analytic/critical thinking and translational context.
- Stay current on advances and emerging methodologies in translational genetics, particularly genetics–genomics integration.
- Lead and develop direct reports; foster innovation, collaboration, and continuous learning.
Qualifications (Basic):
- PhD or equivalent advanced degree in a relevant discipline (e.g., statistical genetics, genetic epidemiology, biomedical statistics, computational sciences, bioinformatics, machine learning) with impactful publications/presentations.
- Experience integrating genetics with genomics and/or clinical phenotypic data for drug discovery/development.
- Effective collaboration across multidisciplinary teams.
- Ability to communicate complex scientific concepts to diverse audiences.
- Expertise in defining scientific questions and delivering innovative analytical solutions.
- Experience developing/implementing new methodologies for genetics–genomics integration in translational work.
- Experience setting up and overseeing external collaborations.
- Experience prioritizing resources to meet organizational needs.
- Experience leading/managing a high-performance team.
- Proficiency in at least one of R or Python; reproducible/scalable, FAIR-aligned code.
- Understanding of drug discovery and development stages.
