Role Summary

Senior Director, Strategy to Order Process & Digitization COE leader responsible for enabling strategic sourcing value delivery through end-to-end processes, driving a digital and systems strategy, and enabling data-driven decision-making across strategic sourcing and the broader accounting organization. Leads development and adoption of Source to Pay end-to-end roadmap and tools, and collaborates cross-functionally to embed category strategy, enablement, and end-to-end operationalization through P2P.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the strategy, design, digitization, implementation, and continuous improvement of global strategic sourcing and procurement to order end-to-end processes (in partnership with the P2P team) to enhance value and impact on business objectives.
  • Develop and execute a multi-year digital process and technology roadmap for P2P, evaluating and implementing technologies to enhance automation, data-driven decision-making, and user experience.
  • Enable cross-functional sourcing teams to develop multi-year category strategies and sourcing plans that feed the end-to-end procurement process; position the organization as a strategic partner with an enterprise category lens.
  • Own capability development for Sourcing & Procurement teams, focusing on soft skills, business skills, and hard sourcing skills.
  • Manage processes and tools (Market Intelligence, RFXs, Contracting, TPRM, etc.) supporting end-to-end strategy to pay processes.
  • Align buying channels and supplier onboarding with category strategies to optimize operationalization into buying and payment channels.
  • Develop and enable Supplier Performance/Relationship Management, including monitoring and managing supplier risk and relationships with key suppliers.
  • Develop, drive, and embed a Sustainability program including Supplier Diversity and Sustainability strategies to meet business needs and goals.
  • Lead Data, Insights and Analytics strategy to support end-to-end Strategy to Pay and drive data-driven decision-making, enabling strategic category management and business engagement.
  • Collaborate to develop value delivery plans, goals, and metrics linked to business objectives, including value beyond savings and annual cost savings targets.
  • Develop and enforce policies to ensure compliance with global regulations and SOPs; regularly review for gaps and improvements.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to optimize strategy to pay processes through integration, simple user experience, streamlined workflows, and reduced cycle times.
  • Drive initiatives that enhance strategic value of sourcing and procurement functions in alignment with P2P.
  • Define KPIs for strategic sourcing and procurement and monitor performance.
  • Develop training programs and tools to elevate team capabilities and impact.
  • Drive change and adoption of processes, tools, and technologies to deliver value; foster a culture of continuous learning and development.

Qualifications

  • Experience in building and driving strategy, including multi-year digital roadmaps, in partnership with Strategic Sourcing and DTE.
  • Strong ability to build relationships with senior-level business partners, shape strategies, and develop multi-year plans; effective listener and communicator.
  • Understanding of Category Management, sourcing, data analysis, analytics tools, buying channels, P2P tools, supplier performance management, and stakeholder management.
  • Ability to develop team members with constructive feedback; capable of hard decisions when necessary.
  • Proven leadership of large, cross-functional/global teams; collaborative across Legal, Compliance, Finance, and other functions.
  • Strong written and verbal communication; comfortable presenting to executives.
  • Understanding of drug discovery processes and regulatory requirements in pharmaceutical/biotech contexts.
  • Knowledge of Vertexβ€šΓ„Γ΄s strategic direction and annual imperatives.

Education

  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant discipline from a four-year college or university.
  • 12β€šΓ„Γ¬14 years of strategic sourcing experience, with 7+ years of supervisory experience leading larger teams; pharmaceutical/biotech experience preferred.
  • Advanced degree (MBA) and/or supply chain professional designation preferred; international assignments a plus.
