Role Summary
Senior Director, Search and Evaluation for the Inflammation & Immunology (I&I) therapeutic area, based in Cambridge, MA. Lead strategy and execution of the business development roadmap for I&I, prioritize activities, and act as a trusted representative with external parties. Coordinate closely with BD colleagues and I&I stakeholders to advance external growth initiatives.
Responsibilities
- Search and Evaluation: Work within a global team dedicated to external search and evaluation for the I&I Therapeutic Area, including opportunity identification and in-depth technical assessment with Research, Development, Commercial, and other stakeholders.
- Strategic contribution: Help develop the Immunology partnering strategy, lead ad-boards, landscaping, and competitive intelligence, and align with Research, Development, Commercial & Strategy functions, as well as Sanofi Venture and M&A.
- Due Diligence lead: Lead multi-disciplinary due diligence teams and serve as the main connection point with potential external partners; drive due diligence through internal governance prior to deal signing.
- Active deal clinical stage projects: Identify and propose attractive deal opportunities, ensure high-quality project leadership, manage governance interfaces, align resources and decision-making, and provide input on scientific deal structures while minimizing contractual risk.
- Portfolio management: Manage the S&E portfolio, update R&D executive leadership, and reshape the pipeline in response to internal/external data points.
Qualifications
- Required: PhD and/or MD in Immunology, ideally with clinical development experience in dermatology, GI disorders, and/or respiratory disease.
- Required: >10 years of diverse experience in biotech/pharma with outstanding scientific excellence in Inflammation & Immunology, including discovery and early clinical development expertise in I&I.
- Required: Extensive experience in search & evaluation, business development, or academic technology transfer.
- Required: Proven track record in leading complex evaluations of clinical-stage assets.
- Required: Strong organizational and project management skills, high performance mindset, and excellent English (verbal and written).
