Role: Senior Director of Protein Analytics & Biophysics at Generate:Biomedicines, leading the development and scaling of advanced biophysical and biochemical measurement platforms for protein therapeutics. Responsibilities: define multi-year scientific vision, innovate high-throughput pooled and nanoscale assays, optimize traditional analytical workflows (e.g., HPLC, LC/MS, biosensors), and integrate emerging technologies like microfluidics and automation. Collaborate across R&D functions to translate assay concepts into scalable capabilities, establish data standards, and ensure high-quality decision-enabling data across discovery and early development. Lead a multidisciplinary team, foster a collaborative culture, and manage external partnerships and technology scouting. Requirements: Ph.D. in a related scientific discipline or equivalent experience; 12+ years in biopharma, biotech, or related fields with senior leadership expertise; proven track record inventing or scaling assay platforms for protein analysis, especially multiplexed, microfluidic, or sequencing-enabled approaches; deep expertise in conventional biophysical methods (HPLC, LC/MS, SPR, BLI, DLS, SEC-MALS); strong quantitative skills and experience with data-driven decision frameworks; demonstrated leadership in building high-performing teams and influencing across functions. Preferred: experience supporting AI/ML-enabled discovery, pooled screening, low-sample-input assays, and regulatory considerations. High-value biopharma specifics include focus on biologics, developability, protein-protein interactions, and early-stage drug discovery, with cross-functional engagement in biology, data sciences, and tech ops. Work setup: likely hybrid or onsite with strategic external collaborations.
