Role Summary
Vertex is seeking a leader to build and lead Patient Support for the US Kidney Business Unit, driving the programs behind Phase 3 therapies Povetacicept and Inaxaplin. The Senior Director, Patient Support Lead will establish processes, systems, and operations for patient support; define the launch strategy and patient support model; recruit and develop a high-performing team; and oversee launch execution. This role reports to PS Operations and is a key member of the US Kidney BU leadership team, based in Boston, MA (must reside in or relocate to Boston).
Responsibilities
- Sets strategic vision for Kidney Patient Support, including Patient Support Program design, budget management, annual and long term planning and cross-functional integration
- Leads Patient Support day-to-day operational aspects, including key activities & programs that drive performance against access, patient logistics, and service goals
- Drives launch readiness for both assets.
- Manages operations project portfolio with a focus on initiatives that drive operational effectiveness and enhance the patient experience
- Drive flawless execution of our operational plans, through ensuring the team is clear on priorities, effective cross functional partnerships, and thoughtful training & implementation plans
- Driving continuous improvement and innovation, always maintaining an external focus
- Hire, develop and coach functional team leads to achieve exceptional performance
- Retains, develops, and engages top talent
- Serve as a core member of the Patient Support Leadership Team, representing operations perspective and engaging โaboveโ role to improve our effectiveness in the US, i.e. can think at a broader level than oneโs own function
- Coordinates closely with cross functional colleagues, ensuring a culture of collaboration and receptivity to feedback
- Role models and instills a culture of compliance focused on ethics and integrity in all we do
Qualifications
- Required: 12 years+ work experience in healthcare/pharmaceuticals, 5 years in leading teams
- Preferred: Specialty product launch experience
- Preferred: Work within highly competitive markets
- Preferred: Nephrology experience
