Role Summary

The Senior Director of Medical Science Liaisons (MSLs) oversees a team of five MSLs to ensure effective KOL and HCP engagement and alignment with company/medical strategies. The role partners in establishing the medical affairs infrastructure supporting launch activities, defining gaps, targets, governance, tools, and roles across teams. The regional responsibilities include local territory duties as well as East/West Region MSL leadership, providing guidance and mentorship, contributing to Medical Affairs’ scientific/communications plan for epicutaneous immunotherapy and the Viaskin platform, and ensuring alignment of MSL/Medical Affairs activities with the company’s commercial and scientific objectives.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and develop the regional MSL team, providing coaching, training, and guidance to ensure strong performance, continuous learning, and compliance with internal and external regulations.
  • Build and execute strategic KOL/HCP engagement plans, including identification, segmentation, and tracking, while ensuring alignment with Medical Affairs objectives.
  • Communicate scientific and clinical data to external experts and internal teams, and support the development of high-quality scientific resources for MSL use.
  • Oversee insight gathering from the field and competitive intelligence to inform medical strategy and organizational decision-making.
  • Contribute medical and scientific input to strategic planning, lifecycle management, and evidence-generation activities.
  • Ensure timely and accurate responses to medical information requests.
  • Support company-sponsored research and clinical trials, including site identification, recruitment activities, and communication of approved data.
  • Promote effective cross-functional collaboration and communication between MSLs and internal stakeholders.
  • Manage the development of training materials, presentations, and educational tools.
  • Identify and train external speakers to ensure consistent and high-quality scientific communication.
  • Support advisory boards with scientific expertise and facilitation.
  • Contribute to HEOR activities and managed care initiatives to support product value, access, and reimbursement.

Qualifications

  • Doctorate degree (i.e., PharmD, MD/DO, PhD, etc.) in a scientific discipline.
  • 5+ years of directly related pharmaceutical industry experience required, management experience preferred
  • Research or pharmaceutical industry experience in the field of Allergy and Immunology preferred
  • Successful track record in providing medical/scientific support to other departments within an organization.
  • A solid understanding of local pharmaceutical regulations, industry codes, FDA rules, and OIG guidelines is required, especially as they apply to the role’s non-promotional activities.
  • Comfortable working in a small, fast-paced, very hands-on environment.
  • Strong communications and relationship-building capacity
  • Strong strategic mindset, understanding of market needs and resource allocation
  • Very strong familiarity with medical affairs activities such as Medical & KOL strategy and management, medical education, medical operations, medical congresses, investigator-initiated studies, and professional society engagement.
  • Sound computer skills, including applications for word processing, producing slide materials, and working with spreadsheets.
  • Capable of engaging in frequent business travel (approximately 50-75% of time), to include air travel, ability to travel overnight and on weekends.
  • Must possess and maintain a valid driver’s license.
