Senior Director – Mechanical & Materials Engineering

Responsibilities
- Lead and develop a Mechanical & Materials organization covering mechanical design, materials selection, verification testing, and lifecycle performance.
- Set and own mechanical/materials technical strategy aligned to DDCS platform, sustainability, and delivery objectives.
- Establish engineering standards, governance, and best practices.
- Drive right-the-first-time mindset; reduce deviations; monitor quality signals and lead corrective actions.
- Partner with Quality, Manufacturing, and Systems to manage technical and compliance risk.
- Lead M&M capability transformation; track progress to transformation maps.
- Lead/optimize internal and external GMP testing for Design Verification and Stability; set governance and performance metrics with testing partners.
- Drive testing site readiness, SOP updates, and coordination; improve scheduling, workload management, and data flow.
- Expand platform management initiative across DDCS systems; support critical programs (including Boone platform devices through DV/RS and beyond).
- Model DDCS @ Work expectations (safety, inclusion) and leverage digital tools/automation.

Basic Requirements
- Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Materials Science, or related engineering.
- 5+ years progressive leadership in mechanical/materials engineering for complex, regulated products.

Additional Preferences
- PhD; experience leading cross-functional engineering organizations.
- Regulated product development, verification testing, and manufacturing interface knowledge (e.g., ISO 13485, FEA/biocompatibility).
- Drug delivery devices/combination products experience; materials/manufacturing expertise (e.g., precision injection molding, device assembly).
- Managing external testing partners; strong systems thinking and executive communication; proven transformation.

Benefits/Pay (as stated)
- Anticipated base pay: $163,500–$264,000; potential company bonus; comprehensive benefits including 401(k), medical/dental/vision, flexible spending, life insurance, time off, and well-being benefits.

- Location: Indianapolis, IN (hybrid); Travel: up to 15%.
