Senior Director, Machine Learning & AI (BPD)

Role: Senior Director of Machine Learning & AI within AstraZeneca's Biopharmaceutical Development (BPD) to lead AI strategy, portfolio, and team efforts in transforming biologic R&D through digital innovation. Responsibilities: define and execute multi-year ML & AI strategy aligned with Predict-First CMC principles; oversee portfolio across foundational platforms, knowledge management, digital twins, and reporting; provide technical leadership on model development, evaluation, deployment, and governance; build and mentor a high-performing AI team; collaborate with cross-functional teams (digital transformation, R&D IT, robotics, informatics); ensure compliance with GxP, AI governance, and regulatory standards; foster external partnerships and represent BPD in scientific forums.
