Role Summary

Senior Director of Investor Relations and Corporate Communications will develop and execute the company’s corporate communications strategy, with a strong focus on external communications, investor relations, and internal communications. The role is responsible for developing and delivering key messages across channels, supporting content for investor relations and corporate presentations, and ensuring alignment across the organization. The Senior Director will maintain the company’s public narrative, keep the website current, and proactively manage corporate messaging with internal and external stakeholders. This role reports to the Chief Financial Officer and leads the investor relations program while acting as a trusted adviser to the executive team and the Board.

Responsibilities

  • Design and implement an effective investor relations program that enhances understanding of Ironwood’s vision, mission and strategy among members of the investment community.
  • Develop a thorough understanding of Ironwood’s business and strategy to effectively communicate the company’s execution in a clear and compelling manner.
  • Build and strengthen relationships with current and prospective investors.
  • Provide analytics and tracking, including the quarterly stock activity report, research analysts’ valuations and financial models, investor perceptions, and other market intelligence to facilitate enhanced engagement with the investment community.
  • Implement strategic investor and analyst targeting program directed at helping the company to maximize long-term value.
  • Lead development of materials for quarterly and annual earnings results, including press releases, conference call scripts, slides, key messages and Q&A.
  • Lead development of press releases, PowerPoint presentations and other investor communications.
  • Corporate Communications Strategy: Develop and implement a comprehensive corporate communications strategy that aligns with the company’s vision, values, and business goals, and manage both internal and external communications to ensure consistency and clarity across channels.
  • Content Creation: Write and produce high-quality content for corporate materials, including press releases, blog posts, newsletters, annual reports, and executive communications, ensuring messaging aligns with the company’s narrative and objectives.
  • Media Relations: Cultivate relationships with key media outlets, journalists, and industry influencers to secure media coverage and promote the company’s achievements; respond to media inquiries with timely and accurate information.
  • Crisis Communication and Reputation Management: Support the development of crisis communication plans and manage media inquiries; monitor and manage the company’s reputation in traditional and social media.
  • Website Management and Content Development: Oversee the company’s website, ensuring it is up to date with developments, research updates, clinical trials, and investor relations content; collaborate with cross-functional teams to create engaging content that reflects the company’s innovations and achievements.
  • Cross-functional Collaboration: Coordinate the creation of a unified communication calendar to align efforts, key dates, and messages across departments.
  • Internal Communications: Develop and implement effective internal communications strategies to keep employees informed and engaged with company developments and leadership updates, fostering a positive internal culture through transparent and consistent communication.

Qualifications

  • Minimum of 15+ years of work experience in investor relations and corporate communications within the pharmaceutical, biotechnology, or healthcare industries.
  • Strong knowledge of pharmaceutical industry trends, clinical development processes, and investor relations practices.
  • Proven ability to develop and implement strategic communication plans, including writing, editing, and creating content for a variety of formats.
  • Experience in managing corporate websites and digital content, with a focus on maintaining up-to-date, engaging content.
  • Familiarity with regulatory and compliance guidelines related to corporate and investor communications in the pharmaceutical industry.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with a talent for crafting clear, concise, and persuasive messages.
  • Strong project management and organizational skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively across functions and manage complex stakeholder relationships.
  • Experience working with executives and preparing presentations and materials for external and internal audiences.
  • High degree of professionalism and confidentiality, with an ability to handle sensitive information responsibly.
  • Ability to think strategically and proactively manage communications needs across the organization.

Education

  • Bachelor's degree; MBA preferred but not required.

Additional Requirements

  • Travel up to 20%.
