Role Summary

Senior Director, Investor Relations. Responsible for setting the strategic direction of the Investor Relations function, championing the company’s science, pipeline, and impact to the investment community, and serving as the primary contact for investors and external stakeholders. Located in San Francisco with in-office expectations of at least 3 days per week.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and execute an annual investor relations strategy communicating Vir Bio’s short and long‑term vision, goals, and scientific progress.
  • Monitor internal developments, market events, and shareholder trends to inform and adapt IR strategy.
  • Analyze shareholder base and investment trends to inform targeting strategy and engagement opportunities.
  • Partner with leadership and cross-functional teams to align messaging and disclosure across investor materials and presentations.
  • Lead investor engagement activities, including conferences, roadshows, investor days, and one-on-one meetings.
  • Collaborate with the CFO as the main contact for sell-side analysts, assess models, and inform communications.
  • Lead investor communications, including decks, Q&As, website content, and SEC/other filings as required.
  • Prepare earnings releases and conference call scripts; coach leaders for effective delivery.
  • Contribute to Board materials, press releases, and SEC documents.
  • Create briefing materials for management for investor meetings.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional partners to monitor industry trends, ensure regulatory compliance, and maintain consistent external messaging.

Qualifications

  • BA/BS required; MBA, MD, or PhD preferred.
  • Minimum 10 years of investor relations experience in biotech/pharma or related roles.
  • Ability to present and discuss complex scientific and clinical data.
  • Deep understanding of capital markets, financial statements, and valuation models.
  • Knowledge of SEC and FDA regulations affecting communications.
  • Strong communication, financial acumen, and strategic mindset.
  • Collaborative, highly organized, and able to manage multiple priorities.
  • Strong network in the scientific and healthcare community.
