Senior Director, Health Answers by Pfizer Tech Lead

Role Summary

Senior technical director and tech lead for Health Answers by Pfizer, reporting to the VP of Technology. Lead architecture, strategy, and delivery for a high-visibility consumer health product powered by generative AI. Drive technology decisions, vendor relationships, and innovative approaches to scale and uptime. Hybrid work location.

Responsibilities

• Technical Strategy: define forward-looking technical approaches and communicate strategy to stakeholders and delivery teams; anticipate upcoming technical needs.
• High Level Architecture: serve as lead architect, describe current and future state of the technical stack, and drive platform decisions.
• Vendor Management: act as the face to platform and delivery vendors; negotiate contracts/SOWs and procure technology to meet team needs.
• Program Leadership: articulate technology strategy to pilots and stakeholders; collaborate with Product Lead and Pilot in Command; solve problems on the fly.
• Innovative Thinking: create novel solutions; champion out-of-the-box ideas; maintain deep familiarity with Generative AI, AI agents, microservices, and cloud architecture.
• Delivery Management: lead the delivery team and vendors; ensure uptime of all underlying platforms (AWS, Azure, Cloudflare, Adobe, etc.) and monitoring (e.g., Dynatrace).
• Product Uptime: coordinate with on-call support during outages and ensure continuous service availability.

Qualifications

• Education: Bachelor's degree in Technology or related field with at least 12 years of applicable experience; Master's degree preferred.
• Experience: proven software development and large-scale application experience; Generative AI experience; experience with consumer digital products and technical project management is desirable.
• Analytical Skills: strong analytical and problem-solving abilities; able to interpret complex data into actionable insights.
• Communication Skills: effective communication and presentation abilities; translate technical decisions for non-technical stakeholders.
• Technical Skills: strong software development proficiency; expert in AWS-based solutions architecture; deep Generative AI experience within software applications.
• Collaboration: ability to work with cross-functional teams; manage multiple projects; lead cross-functional teams.
• Industry Knowledge: up-to-date with Generative AI trends; knowledge of the consumer health/healthcare industry is a plus.
