Role Summary
The Senior Director of Global Scientific Content is responsible for leading the development and execution of scientific content within Madrigal Medical Affairs. This role contributes to the Medical Affairs and Scientific Communication Plans, ensuring the globalization and alignment of content initiatives. The Senior Director partners closely with Medical Affairs colleagues to deliver high-quality, impactful scientific content that support both internal stakeholders (e.g., Field Medical, Health Systems) and external stakeholders (e.g., healthcare professionals). The position reports to the Vice President of Scientific Communications (or assigned delegate) and is a hybrid role (three days per week at Conshohocken, PA).
Responsibilities
- Strategic Planning and Alignment
- Define and prioritize global scientific content needs of internal and external stakeholders, including Health Systems content as appropriate
- Ensure scientific content planning is aligned with Madrigal Medical Affairs strategies and Scientific Communication platforms, as well as the training plans
- Create and execute the global scientific content plan for the fiscal year, including alignment with the Medical Plan, detailed tactics, interdependencies, ownership, and budget
- Content Development
- Oversee the creation, adaptation, and distribution of global content across multiple channels to deliver consistent and impactful information for scientific exchange
- Support the development of comprehensive content strategies that leverage digital and omnichannel approaches to enhance engagement with healthcare professionals (HCPs) and internal stakeholders, ensuring alignment with scientific communication platform within compliance and practice standards
- Ascertain scientific accuracy, stakeholder relevance, and appropriateness of the various formats utilized across all the scientific content materials
- Champion unwavering commitment to scientific rigor and data-driven decision-making
- Alignment with Training
- Ensure alignment with global scientific training program for field medical and other relevant stakeholders, ensuring best in class training on new content
- Gather key insights and key learnings from the evaluation of the impact of training initiatives by analyzing metrics and feedback, ensuring insights are considered for scientific content
- Team Leadership & Development
- Lead, inspire, and develop a high-performing global scientific content team, fostering an inclusive culture of scientific excellence, accountability, and collaboration
- Provide mentoring, coaching, and growth opportunities to ensure ongoing development of team members and future leaders
- Align all global content strategy and execution activities with organizational strategic objectives and tactical imperatives, serving as a key thought leader and advisor within Medical Affairs
- Cross-functional Collaboration
- Partner with internal cross-functional and regional teams to align on scientific content priorities
- Accountability for the collaboration with external vendors and partners as needed to support content deliverables
- Contribute to launch readiness and support lifecycle medical affairs activities in alignment with strategic objectives
- Congress & External Engagement
- Contribute to U.S. and global medical congress activities, as needed, including support for booth content, scientific content and training
- Compliance & Quality
- Ensure all activities comply with company SOPs, industry standards, and applicable regulations
- Uphold the highest ethical standards in all external engagements
- Travel Requirement
- Willingness to travel up to 20% for conferences, various corporate locations, and stakeholder meetings, including overnight trips
Qualifications
- Required: Advanced degree in a scientific or healthcare discipline (BSc, MD, PharmD, PhD, DNP, etc.)
- Required: Rich scientific background with a minimum of 15 years of experience in healthcare / clinical practice
- Required: A minimum of 5 years headquarters work and/or Scientific Content experience
- Required: Proven ability to understand, communicate, and translate complex scientific information
- Required: Knowledge of Scientific Content and Communication trends and landscape
- Required: Demonstrated ability to plan, lead and create scientific content
- Required: Emphasis on providing leadership though factual evidence gathering influencing and inspiring cross-functional teams to drive innovation and achieve goals
- Required: Ability to interact and strategize with leadership and stakeholders across the business
- Required: Strong knowledge of US/EU healthcare systems, global regulatory standards (e.g., FDA, CE), and medical affairs compliance standards
- Required: Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, virtual communication platforms (e.g., Zoom), and CRM systems (e.g., Veeva)
