Role Summary

Senior Director, Global Program Management will provide global program management and matrixed leadership for a portfolio of early- to late-stage development assets, driving cross-functional collaboration and integrating scientific and commercial strategies. The role may act as Global Program Leader on select assets, leading a matrixed team to set product strategies, priorities, and long-term plans aligned with the portfolio. This position emphasizes AI-enabled, data-driven decision making and mentoring of GPMs, with responsibility across enterprise initiatives. Location: Cambridge, MA. Travel: approximately 10%.

Responsibilities

  • Provide global program management and matrixed leadership at the highest level to global, cross-functional, cross-divisional teams and franchises to drive development and deliver results in early to late-phase pipeline or marketed assets.
  • Demonstrate strategic leadership and may function as Global Program Leader on select assets as needed.
  • Lead program management across a portfolio of assets, ensuring that scientific and commercial strategies are incorporated into portfolio and asset development plans.
  • Independently lead a matrixed team of cross-functional experts to set product strategies, goals, priorities, and long-term plans aligned with the portfolio strategy established by the Global Program Leader.
  • Provide strategic direction, translating the cross-divisional, integrated portfolio and Global Product Team strategy into an executable plan; ensure cross-functional resources are available to execute portfolio and asset plans and develop agile responses to data that impact prioritization.
  • Play a key GPT leadership role in championing an AI-forward mindset and leveraging data-driven and AI-enabled tools to enhance productivity, streamline workflows, improve decision-making, and optimize team collaboration.
  • Drive transparency within the GPT and across R&D regarding program status, risks and opportunities.
  • Mentor junior GPMs and functional members to enhance their knowledge and effectiveness; contribute to enterprise-wide initiatives and opportunities.

Qualifications

  • Required: Bachelor's Degree in science or business-related field
  • Preferred: Advanced degree in science or business
  • Preferred: 12-14 years of in-depth pharmaceutical industry experience and drug development across all phases with significant experience in related functions
  • Required: 10+ years of program management experience leading complex pharmaceutical projects in a multi-disciplinary, global environment
  • Required: Matrix program leadership and management skills
  • Preferred: Thorough knowledge of Therapeutic Area
  • Required: Ability to influence and negotiate in a matrix environment to optimize development and address barriers
  • Required: Proactive risk management with ability to propose solutions and deliver mitigation plans
  • Required: Ability to communicate clearly (written and verbal) to all levels of the organization including executive management
  • Required: Ability to drive decision-making within a cross-functional and cross-cultural global team
  • Required: Experience maturing team AI/data fluency and enabling adoption through AI leadership and community of practice approaches for GPMs and GPT leadership
  • Required: Flexibility, tolerance and diplomacy to manage change; ability to work virtually across time zones
  • Required: Ability to inspire and motivate in a matrix and global team; work in a highly complex, multi-cultural environment
  • Required: Excellent organizational skills and commercial understanding
  • Required: Highly effective presentation skills
  • Required: Experience with Microsoft Project, SharePoint, Excel, PowerPoint, AI and Word; fluent in English
