Role Summary

Senior Director, Global Program Leader - Oncology, Solid Tumors. Cambridge office. Lead overarching Global Program(s) for assets from discovery to marketplace, defining asset strategy and driving development and lifecycle management with responsibilities across research, development, commercial and access to ensure global patient access.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the Global Program in setting vision, strategy, goals, priorities, and long-term plans; align cross-functional goals with Takeda business needs.
  • Provide strategic, process, and operational leadership to multiple Global Program Teams (GPTs) and functions from discovery to commercialization and lifecycle management; manage multiple projects across all development phases.
  • Coordinate cross-functional sub-teams to execute program deliverables within scope, budget, and timelines; ensure transparency of activities.
  • Provide leadership to TA Leaders and Sub-team leaders to set the Therapeutic Area direction and prioritize project aspects within a global program.
  • Report progress, plan changes, risks, and decisions to TA Unit and executive management; evaluate new opportunities and support feasibility studies for potential global programs.
  • Manage assets within the global program, and demonstrate Enterprise GPT operating model via defined job attributes.
  • Collaborate with commercial leaders to align asset strategy with unmet medical need, market landscape, and access considerations.
  • Lead business initiatives and engage with internal and external stakeholders to promote the GPL community.

Qualifications

  • Required: Advanced scientific degree (MD, PhD, PharmD) or MBA; minimum 10 years in the pharmaceutical industry with R&D and commercial operations experience; minimum 8 years global, interdisciplinary experience with complex projects, strategy, execution, and matrix team management.
  • Preferred: Advanced degree in science or business; broad enterprise orientation; experience with multiple NME global approvals.

Additional Requirements

  • Travel: Willingness to travel to meetings or client sites, including overnight and international travel; approximately 20-25% travel.
