Responsibilities:
- Develop and execute environment-shaping communications campaigns and activities for priority policy goals in partnership with GPP, Legal, FGA, LVA, and BUCAs.
- Collaborate with the International Business Unit communications lead to support proactive communications, influence positive policy outcomes, and handle related media inquiries.
- Collaborate with Global Corporate Communications to drive story opportunities and implement tactics.
- Coordinate with trade associations (e.g., PhRMA, BIO, IFPMA) public affairs teams to influence strategy and inform internal Lilly interested parties on the policy/political environment.
- Counsel functions on communications strategies and tactics (earned/paid media, digital/social amplification, internal communications, advocacy partnerships, exec speaking opportunities, events/briefings).
- Monitor evolving global policy landscape (international reference pricing, reimbursement, IP protections, compounding).
- Provide strategic judgment across proactive public affairs and issues management within the same policy area; coordinate approaches that may use Lilly voice vs. third-party surrogates/coalitions.
- Partner with GPP to engage external policy influencers for POV.
- Develop proactive/reactive message documents (talking points, standby statements, press releases, FAQs).
- Create advocacy communications materials (issue backgrounders, fact sheets, stakeholder letters).
- Draft and place op-eds on behalf of Lilly executives.
- Build relationships with key policy media.
- Work with Legal and Compliance to establish guardrails for influencing the external environment.
- Evaluate and recommend new ideas to drive Lilly’s voice externally.
- Partner with and direct external agencies/vendors; flex to support reputation management as needed.

Basic Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree.
- 7+ years of communications experience.
- Authorized to work in the United States full-time; Lilly does not sponsor work authorization/visas (including listed visas).

Additional Skills/Preferences:
- Experience managing and aligning cross-functional teams; influence without authority; strong relationship-building.
- Knowledge of drug development and commercialization.
- Strong strategic thinking; ability to translate strategy into tactics.
- Excellent communication across functional/geographic boundaries.
- Experience with professional/advocacy/communications outlets.
