Senior Director, Global Environmental Health, Safety and Sustainability

Role: Senior Director, Global Environmental Health, Safety and Sustainability, providing enterprise leadership to develop and execute strategies that ensure regulatory compliance, operational resilience, and sustainability across Alnylam's global operations. Responsibilities: lead a team of 5 EHSS professionals; establish and continuously improve the EHSS management system aligned with ISO standards; advise executive leadership on EHSS risks; oversee compliance, risk management, and emergency preparedness; drive sustainability initiatives including GHG reduction and waste minimization; and integrate prevention strategies into capital projects and operational changes. Requirements: Bachelor's in environmental science, occupational health, engineering, or related field; 15+ years in EHSS leadership within regulated industries such as biotech or pharma; extensive experience managing global EHSS programs and cross-functional influence; professional certification (e.g., CSP, CIH); broad knowledge of environmental, occupational health, safety, and emergency standards; ability to influence leadership and foster a safety culture; willingness to travel domestically and internationally. Preferred: Master’s degree; experience with ISO 14001/45001, ESG programs, high-potency compounds, biological agents, and crisis management training.
