Sr. Director of Global Data Protection and AI Security (on-site 4 days/week; Sleepy Hollow, NY or Warren, NJ; relocation benefits may be available; not fully remote)
Responsibilities:
- Lead Global Data Protection strategy, architecture, and execution across DSPM, DLP, Insider Risk, and data classification.
- Set multi-year roadmap: DSPM coverage expansion, DLP maturity, and insider risk program buildout.
- Own DSPM for a 112+ PB data estate across on-prem, cloud (AWS, Snowflake, Databricks/Unity Catalog), and SaaS.
- Expand Varonis coverage from M365/O365 to Isilon NAS, cloud/IaaS, and additional SaaS.
- Define lifecycle data protection controls across data in motion/at rest/in use (endpoint, cloud, email, network).
- Develop and tune DLP using Microsoft Purview, Zscaler, Varonis, and CASB/SASE capabilities.
- Own Insider Risk program design and operating model integrating HR, Legal, Corporate Security, and Security Operations.
- Build analytics/detection for data misuse using Splunk UBA and DLP telemetry; establish case management, investigation, and escalation.
- Drive cross-functional alignment, audit-ready reporting to CISO/Audit Committee/regulators, and external benchmarking/threat intelligence.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in IT/CS/Cybersecurity/Information Management (MS/MBA preferred).
- 15+ years in info security/data protection; strong DSPM, DLP, and insider risk depth.
- 5+ years leading a recognized security/data protection function (Director/Sr. Manager), including people management.
- 3+ years hands-on enterprise DSPM/DLP in complex multi-cloud.
- Cross-functional program leadership with HR, Legal, Privacy, and Security.
- Preferred/Relevant: AI/ML system auditing; data protection-by-design for AI/agentic AI; life sciences/GxP exposure; Databricks Unity Catalog/Snowflake/AWS data lake security; data catalog/metadata platforms (Collibra/Privacera); certifications (CISSP, CIPP/E, CIPP/US, CDPSE, CIPM, CISM).
