Role Summary

Senior Director, Global Compensation. This role leads the design and administration of Elanco’s global compensation programs to attract, motivate, and retain talent while ensuring regulatory compliance. The position requires strategic leadership, cross-functional collaboration, and the ability to articulate the compensation strategy to senior leadership.

Responsibilities

  • Monitor industry practices, trends, and legal requirements; lead development and implementation of initiatives to keep compensation programs market-competitive, financially sound, and legally compliant.
  • Provide leadership and supervision of the Compensation team, fostering accountability and performance through coaching and management.
  • Partner with HR leadership to design and implement the future Compensation operating model, leveraging the Elanco Business Services team for administrative efficiencies.
  • Assess the effectiveness of current compensation programs and recommend modifications; evolve the global job architecture.
  • Lead the annual compensation planning cycle with HRIS and HR Operations, including salary survey submissions and budget planning.
  • Develop and coordinate communication strategies to educate employees about compensation.
  • Identify opportunities to improve Compensation governance across the full employee lifecycle.
  • Manage vendor relationships to ensure excellent service; solicit compensation vendor RFPs as needed.
  • Identify opportunities to leverage technology to improve operational effectiveness and employee experience.

Qualifications

  • Required: Bachelor’s degree in business administration, human resources, or related field.
  • Required: 10+ years of progressive experience in compensation programs management with 5+ years in a leadership role, ideally in a large global organization.
  • Preferred: Global Remuneration Professional (GRP) or Certified Compensation Professional (CCP).
  • Financial acumen to understand the short- and long-term impact of Total Rewards and present relevant data to senior audiences.
  • Demonstrated experience implementing large global compensation architectures and solutions.
  • Experience in managing and developing remote teams.

  • Strong analytical capabilities; ability to interpret and communicate data.
  • Knowledge of federal, state, and local compensation regulations and compliance.
  • Partnering and influencing skills across all levels, including executives.
  • Excellent interpersonal and collaboration skills with multiple stakeholders.
  • Change management and comfort with innovation in ambiguity and complexity.
  • Ability to distill complex information and communicate clearly to frontline employees and executives.
  • Experience with Workday HRIS.
  • Prior M&A compensation integration experience.

Education

  • Bachelor’s degree in business administration, human resources, or related field.

Additional Requirements

  • Location: Elanco Global Headquarters - Indianapolis, IN (Hybrid environment).
  • Ability to flex working schedule to meet needs of a global, matrixed business.
  • Expected Travel: Up to 10%.
