Role Summary

Senior Director, Engineering. Reporting to the Fort Dodge Site Head and on the Site Leadership Team, the Senior Director is responsible for the technical and strategic leadership of the Engineering Function and Maintenance at the Fort Dodge Iowa site. You will lead, coach, and develop the engineering team to excel in line with Elanco Engineering and Manufacturing principles. In addition, the role is a member of the Global Elanco Technical Operations Leadership Team, who set and drive the global technical strategy for Elanco Manufacturing. The position offers an excellent opportunity for you to lead the Engineering function at two key vaccine sites and influence the global strategy at a leading Animal Health Company.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and Develop Engineering Team: Provide leadership and performance management for the Site Engineering team, including maintenance, process engineers, and capital project managers, while also developing technical talent across Elanco.
  • Strategic Planning: Develop the long-term strategy for the engineering function and create a strategic investment plan for the Site facilities.
  • Asset Management & Compliance: Ensure all Site assets are qualified, maintained, and recapitalized to comply with Elanco standards and capabilities.
  • Operational Support & Improvement: Support manufacturing operations to achieve production goals, driving continuous improvement of assets to enhance overall equipment effectiveness (OEE) and optimize resources.
  • Capital Project Execution: Accountable for the effective and efficient planning and execution of all capital investments.

Qualifications

  • Required: Bachelor of Engineering or Higher.
  • Required: Several years of experience leading engineering teams in maintenance, reliability, process engineering support or capital planning and delivery.
  • Required: Several years of experience in FDA, EMA (EU GMP), USDA-regulated, Animal Health, Pharmaceutical or Biotech manufacturing environment.
  • Preferred: Leading an engineering team and technical agenda to achieve quantifiable successes with optimized resources.
  • Preferred: Coaching and developing individuals and teams to improve technical capability or delivery.
  • Preferred: Appropriate technical depth, curiosity and decision making in ambiguous situations or whilst under pressure.
  • Preferred: Demonstrated communication and influence to gain support and confidence in a technical agenda.
  • Preferred: Organizational influence and collaboration to leverage and drive a broader improvement agenda at both the site and within the global engineering function.

Additional Requirements

  • Monday through Friday work schedule with situations that may arise where off-schedule work, both on site and off site may be required.
  • Domestic travel required on a periodic basis to visit other manufacturing sites and for significant business initiatives.
