Role Summary

Senior Director eDiscovery - Counsel will lead Lilly's eDiscovery and information management strategy within complex litigation, delivering high-stakes results in a global environment. The role requires strategic leadership, strong Legal Tech expertise, and a track record of innovation in data collection, preservation, review, and production. You will mentor teams, drive cross-functional collaboration, and act as a driver of strategic change in the company's legal practices.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and manage eDiscovery and information management initiatives across complex litigation, including data collection, preservation, review, and production.
  • Develop and implement innovative eDiscovery strategies that align with company goals and drive strategic change.
  • Lead, mentor, and develop a high-performing team; set strategic direction and deliver outcomes.
  • Collaborate with legal, information technology, compliance, and security teams; influence stakeholders across levels and departments.
  • Oversee global and cross-border eDiscovery matters, applying a global perspective to multinational projects.
  • Leverage emerging technologies, including AI and machine learning, to enhance eDiscovery practices.

Qualifications

  • Required: Bachelorโ€™s and a J.D. degree.
  • Required: Active license to practice law in at least one U.S. state.
  • Required: A minimum of 10 years of experience as a practicing attorney, including at least 8 years focused on litigation strategy, eDiscovery and information management.
  • Required: Authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis; Lilly will not sponsor work authorization or visas for this role.
  • Preferred: Experience leading litigation strategy and employing eDiscovery and information management tactics in sophisticated, multi-national matters.
  • Preferred: Thought leadership in litigation strategy, eDiscovery and/or information management.
  • Preferred: Experience at a multinational law firm advising clients on litigation strategy and eDiscovery matters.
  • Preferred: Strong executive presence and ability to influence leaders across the organization.
  • Preferred: Ability to research and translate regulations and enforcement trends into practical, actionable advice.
  • Preferred: Collaboration with corporate partners and IT, compliance, and security teams; clear understanding of roles and responsibilities.
  • Preferred: Highly motivated and collaborative; strong interpersonal skills; ability to work with management across all levels.
  • Preferred: Sound judgment and meticulous attention to detail; excellent written and verbal communication; ability to influence others.
