Role Summary

Senior Director – Drug Delivery Technologies at Lilly. Lead and shape the Drug Delivery and New Product Innovation focus areas, driving nanomedicine, targeted delivery, and novel device platforms to improve patient care and delivery of medicines.

Responsibilities

  • Provide leadership to nanomedicine and targeted delivery applications.
  • Lead development and implementation of delivery strategy portfolios and engage functional leaders to align on product delivery to patients.
  • Drive creation and execution of strategic project plans, and foster external collaborations.
  • Establish and evolve functional governance with management to ensure efficient communication, escalation, and decision making.
  • Apply strong scientific principles and a drug development mindset to enable objectives.
  • Maintain clear internal and external communication regarding vision, performance, and impact.
  • Contribute to key initiatives such as acceleration plans, portfolio delivery, and sourcing models; share implementation plans.
  • Propose and lead projects from design to delivery to ensure effective project outcomes.
  • Identify potential issues and contingency plans with focus on quality and risk mitigation across delivery platform projects.
  • Contribute to defining technologies aligned with short- and long-term organizational goals.
  • Foster effective communication, escalation, and shared learning with technical experts and leaders.
  • Collaborate with external partners to deliver on portfolio projects.
  • Apply innovation and lessons learned; foster continuous improvement through process, technology, automation, and shared learning.

Qualifications

  • PhD in Pharmaceutical Sciences (Nanoparticle Injection Physiology / Biocorona / Chemistry / Materials Science / Chemical Engineering or related field) with at least 15 years of industrial and post-doctoral experience
  • Demonstrated technical mastery and scientific leadership in nanoparticle technologies and controlled release
  • Knowledge of particle science technologies including drug delivery and combination products (preferred)
  • In vivo animal research experience (preferred)
  • Self-motivated, dedicated, adaptable to evolving priorities
  • Excellent communication skills and attention to detail
  • Ability to work in a dynamic, multidisciplinary matrixed environment
  • Ability to travel about 10% of the time
