Senior Director, Digital & Social Media

Key Objectives/Deliverables:
- Lead corporate social and digital strategy across current and emerging platforms.
- Lead owned editorial and content strategy; manage an agile social-first content team (incl. blogs/long-form).
- Govern editorial strategy across Lilly corporate digital channels; set publishing cadence, voice, and quality standards.
- Steward Lillyโ€™s voice across owned channels, reflecting brand attributes and โ€œvoice of the patient.โ€
- Oversee organic and paid digital advertising to amplify priority content and improve reach/engagement.
- Integrate with the enterprise editorial pipeline; partner with Executive Communications and others for leadership/spokesperson content.
- Identify, test, and scale emerging platforms/formats; redeploy resources as the landscape shifts.
- Partner across Global Communications and therapeutic area teams to build social campaigns that support launches and achievements.
- Build a measurement framework (resonance, sentiment, share of voice, brand-reputation attributes).
- Optimize corporate content for traditional search and LLMs.
- Partner with Issues/Crisis Communications for early detection, rapid response, and coordinated messaging.
- Partner with Marketing Social Media Center of Excellence to adopt innovations and translate processes.
- Work with Medical, Legal, and Regulatory on guardrails for social content/tactics.
- Advocate patient-centric storytelling (consent, dignity, privacy, stigma-aware language).
- Champion AI-enabled content workflows; direct external agencies/vendors as needed.

Basic Qualifications:
- Bachelorโ€™s degree in Communications/Marketing/PR/Journalism (or related).
- 10+ years in digital and social media strategy/content creation (global corporate or agency experience preferred).
- Authorized to work in the United States full-time; no visa sponsorship.

Additional/Preferred Skills:
- Fast-paced, high-stakes newsroom/regulated/healthcare/high-profile brand experience.
- Data/analytics-driven strategy; leadership and cross-functional collaboration.
- GEO/AI search perspective; strong platform fluency; experience building engaged communities.
- Familiarity with AI tools for quality control and trend detection.
