Role Summary
The Senior Director, Digital Product Management (DPM) leads the strategy, development, and delivery of high-impact digital products that drive Amgen’s digital transformation. This role defines the direction for a defined product area, coordinating across multiple products and potentially leading a team of product managers. It serves as the link between business, technology, and customer outcomes, owning the end-to-end product lifecycle and moving the organization from projects to product-based delivery.
Responsibilities
- Project Planning & Facilitation
- Translate digital strategy into actionable product roadmaps with clear outcomes, milestones, and value measures
- Manage and prioritize a balanced product backlog, including new features, technical debt, and maintenance
- Partner with the VP of Digital Product Management to align priorities, roadmaps, and resourcing with enterprise objectives
- Oversee multiple digital products within a defined area, aligned with the digital portfolio and enterprise goals
- Champion AI-led tools and practices to accelerate discovery, prototyping, and delivery
- Leverage data and AI insights to inform prioritization, design, and decision-making
- Collaborate with Data and Technology teams to evolve modular, future-ready digital architectures
- Integrate AI-based automation into the product lifecycle to improve efficiency and impact
- Stakeholder Management
- Partner with the VP and product owners to ensure projects align with digital product objectives
- Lead, mentor, and develop product managers; foster accountability and collaboration
- Serve as a primary point of contact for executive stakeholders, communicating vision, progress, and outcomes
- Identify barriers and raise solutions in a timely, actionable manner
- Measurement & Outcomes
- Define and monitor KPIs and OKRs to measure success for identified products
- Ensure digital initiatives are tracked for value realization across business performance, efficiency, and user experience
- Product approach & expertise
- Demonstrate a T-shaped leadership profile fluent in business strategy, customer experience, and digital technology
- Embed AI-enabled, data-driven PDLC practices
- Maintain a strong customer-first approach with evidence-based decision-making
- Apply Agile and SAFe methodologies at scale
- Design and evolve end-to-end product strategies from discovery through launch
- Understand technology ecosystems, data platforms, and digital architecture principles
- Leadership & interpersonal
- Influence senior leaders and align cross-functional teams toward a common vision
- Communicate complex topics clearly; build compelling business narratives
- Mentor or manage product managers and develop future leaders
Qualifications
- Required: Doctorate degree and 4 years of Digital Product Direction experience
- Required: OR Master’s degree and 7 Digital Product Direction experience
- Required: OR Bachelor’s degree and 9 years of Digital Product Direction experience
- Preferred: 7+ years of dynamic experience in digital product management, spanning strategy, operations, and delivery
- Preferred: Experience in healthcare, biotechnology, or other regulated industries; those from high-tech industries are encouraged to apply
