Role Summary
The Sr. Director, Digital Product Management (DPM) leads strategy, development, and delivery of high-impact digital products to advance Amgen’s digital transformation. This role sets the direction for a defined product or product area, coordinating progress across multiple products and potentially managing a team of junior or deputy product managers. It serves as the connective tissue between business, technology, and customer outcomes, owning the end-to-end product lifecycle and driving enterprise transformation through a product approach. The senior DPM champions a shift from projects to products, embedding product ways of working, dedicated delivery, and scalable digital enablement across teams. It collaborates closely with product managers, technology teams, UX designers, and data scientists to deliver integrated digital solutions that drive measurable value for patients and the business.
Responsibilities
- Project Planning & Facilitation
- Translate digital strategy into actionable product roadmaps with clear outcomes, milestones, and value measures
- Manage and prioritize a balanced product backlog, including new features, technical debt remediation, and maintenance
- Partner with the VP of Digital Product Management to ensure priorities, roadmaps, and resourcing align with enterprise objectives
- Oversee multiple digital products within a defined product area, ensuring alignment with the digital portfolio and enterprise objectives
- Champion AI-led tools and practices to accelerate discovery, prototyping, and delivery
- Leverage data and AI-focused insights to inform prioritization, design, and decision-making
- Partner with Data and Technology teams to evolve digital architecture toward modular, future-ready products and platforms
- Integrate AI-based automation into the product lifecycle to improve efficiency, scalability, and user impact
- Stakeholder Management
- Collaborate with VP and product owners to align projects with overall digital product objectives
- Lead, mentor, and develop product managers
- Serve as a primary point of contact for executive stakeholders within the product area, communicating vision, progress, and outcomes
- Identify barriers and raise them to leadership with solution-focused approaches
- Measurement & Outcomes
- Define and monitor KPIs and OKRs to measure success for identified products
- Ensure digital initiatives are tracked for outcome-based value realization across business performance, efficiency, and user experience
Qualifications
- Basic Qualifications: Doctorate degree and 4 years of Digital Product Direction experience
- Alternate: Master’s degree and 7 Digital Product Direction experience
- Alternate: Bachelor’s degree and 9 years of Digital Product Direction experience
Preferred Qualifications
- 7+ years of dynamic experience in digital product management, spanning strategy, operations, and delivery
- Experience in healthcare, biotechnology, or other regulated industries; candidates from high-tech industries are encouraged to apply
Skills
- Experienced “T-shaped” digital product leader, fluent in business strategy, customer experience, and digital technology
- Experience embedding AI-enabled, data-driven PDLC practices
- Strong customer-first approach with evidence-based decision-making
- Advanced knowledge of Agile and SAFe methodologies with experience at scale
- Ability to design and evolve end-to-end product strategies from discovery through launch
- Solid understanding of technology ecosystems, data platforms, and digital architecture principles
- Leadership and interpersonal skills: stakeholder management, influencing senior leaders, and mentoring product managers
- Excellent communication and storytelling to translate complex topics into clear business narratives
Education
- Doctorate degree preferred with Digital Product Direction experience
- Master’s degree with Digital Product Direction experience
