Role Summary

Senior Director, Competitive Intelligence in AstraZeneca's Oncology R&D Strategy team. Responsible for delivering competitive analysis to shape therapy area strategies, influence investment decisions, and inform Senior Leadership. Drives in-depth analysis of clinical and commercial data to understand the evolving oncology landscape and align pipeline investments with patient outcomes. Works with cross-functional partners to translate insights into strategy.

Responsibilities

  • Own the delivery of competitive analysis, using knowledge of the therapy area and external resources to shape future-proofed therapy area (TA) strategies.
  • Drive in-depth analysis of clinical and commercial data, generating and communicating critical insights on key issues to provide transparency and respectful challenge to key decision makers.
  • Influence strategy through intellectual agility and strong communication skills, building a network of trusted relationships with a range of partners.

Qualifications

  • Required: Bachelor's degree
  • Required: At least 3 years of experience working in research and/or with data, analysis and fact-based decision-making (equity research background is a definite asset)
  • Required: A critical, innovative thinker with a background in oncology, clinical / research or investment analysis
  • Required: Highly intellectual with excellent analytical skills and learning agility
  • Required: Experienced in leading cross-functional teams with ability to influence without authority
  • Required: A clear communicator with the ability to communicate complex issues simply
  • Required: Resourceful, motivated, decisive and proactive; able to manage multiple priorities in a fast-growing organization
  • Preferred: Educated to PhD, MD or MBA level
  • Preferred: More than 4+ years of working experience with clinical data and analysis (financial models, industry trends)
  • Preferred: More than 2 years working in Oncology
  • Preferred: In-depth understanding of clinical data, clinical trial design or regulatory frameworks
