Key Responsibilities:
- Establish and define CI capabilities to keep Amgen agile and competitive with an acute awareness of the external landscape.
- Represent Competitive Intelligence as a strategic thought partner to cross-functional leadership.
- Deliver fit-for-purpose, high-quality CI insights and recommendations that drive strategic decisions across the portfolio.
- Expand competitive intelligence capabilities at the regional and country level.
- Lead and develop a team of CI managers, including timely resource allocations to meet business needs.
- Ensure robust, reliable CI methodology is applied to collect, analyze, and report insights with relevant implications.
- Conduct congress planning, workshops, and scenario planning activities in a timely and targeted manner.
- Oversee and guide vendor negotiations to drive value-based partnerships; evaluate vendor standards.
- Collaborate with Forecasting, Commercial Insights, and Business Development to drive strategic recommendations.
- Stay abreast of evolving external perspectives.
- Enforce CI legal and ethical guidelines with internal partners and agencies.
Basic Qualifications:
- Doctorate degree and 5 years of competitive intelligence experience
OR Masterβs degree and 8 years
OR Bachelorβs degree and 10 years
Preferred Qualifications:
- Advanced scientific degree (PhD, PharmD, or equivalent)
- 4+ years biopharmaceutical CI experience
- Consulting background; client service orientation
- Strong problem-solving, strategic agility
- Ability to synthesize/analyze/communicate complex information to senior leadership
- Quantitative/qualitative CI research experience
- Track record applying CI to strategic business decisions
- Cross-functional influence; workload management
- Interpersonal skills with diverse teams
- Research/analyze new therapeutic areas quickly; strong written/verbal communication
- Experience building and developing teams
On-site: Thousand Oaks, CA office; work on-site a minimum of 2β3 days/week.
