Role Summary

Senior Director - Clinical Development - Oncology at Lilly. Leads cross-functional clinical development for asset/programs, delivering high-quality clinical plans, managing risks, and accelerating development. Mentors colleagues within Clinical Development and collaborates across functions to craft viable clinical scenarios and rapid trial execution.

Responsibilities

  • Act as the single point of accountability for cross-functional clinical development of assets and/or programs
  • Develop and enable high-quality clinical plans that allow efficient execution and timely transitions to trial execution
  • Proactively manage risk and identify opportunities to accelerate clinical development
  • Support key clinical results in preparation for submission, inspections, and publication
  • Mentor and develop individuals within the Clinical Development organization
  • Collaborate with asset teams to build asset profiles and craft viable clinical scenarios
  • Deliver complete clinical trial packages to enable rapid trial initiation
  • Maintain risk plans during trial implementation and promote broad cross-functional collaborations
  • Oversee budget planning, monitoring, and control of the clinical plan
  • Represent the clinical delivery function at core team meetings and ensure efficient processes
  • Document and communicate information effectively as needed
  • Nurture a culture of innovation and inclusion; pursue continuous improvement and state of inspection readiness

Qualifications

  • Bachelorโ€šร„รดs Degree, preferably in a scientific or health-related field
  • Minimum of 8 yearsโ€šร„รด experience in the pharmaceutical industry and/or clinical research
  • Prior experience leading complex cross-functional projects and/or clinical trials
  • Legally authorized to work in the United States without sponsorship for employment visa status

Skills

  • Strong business insight, problem solving, and agility to adapt to changes
  • Understanding of the competitive landscape and external learning to inform design
  • Ability to manage and adjust to external data and evolving external landscape
  • Effective communication and collaboration across functions and teams

Education

  • Post-graduate degree (preferred): Pharm D, M.S., Ph.D. or equivalent

Additional Requirements

  • Strong preference for Oncology clinical research experience
  • Deep understanding of the pharmaceutical drug/device development process
