Role Summary
The Caris BBD team is expanding its business portfolio partnerships with biotechnologies, pharmaceuticals, and healthcare partners. We are seeking a senior business development professional to join the team, leveraging expertise in genomics, diagnostics, data, and the drug development continuum to build robust partnerships and channels.
Responsibilities
- Promote the Caris BBD portfolio by working with cross-functional internal teams and external business partners.
- Target and develop partnerships using extensive business network and expertise; learn Caris products/solutions and tailor offerings to meet partner needs.
- Generate leads, develop presentations and proposals, negotiate terms, support contracting processes, and manage existing and prospective partner relationships.
- Drive and develop relationships with existing and prospective partners to maximize revenue and collaboration opportunities, coordinating with molecular science, laboratory, bioinformatics, technology, pathology, legal, and medical affairs teams.
- Cover business portfolio accounts based on geographic location, technical expertise, bandwidth, and resources.
Qualifications
- Required: A minimum of 10 years professional work experience, with at least 5 years in Biopharma or business development roles.
- Required: Business Development
- Proven track record leading diligences and complex partnerships with Biopharma.
- Knowledge of transactions (contracting, deal sheets, multi-tier decision making, etc.).
- Experience as the external face of the organization, leading BD partnering events and oncology conferences; able to lead customer demos/presentations.
- Ability to build strategic partnerships and advocate for the customer across Caris internal teams.
- Required: BioPharma and Precision Medicine
- Extensive knowledge of biopharma R&D processes with insight into targets, call points, decision-makers, and related insights.
- Understanding of oncology products, lab services, therapeutic assets, bioinformatics, real-world data/evidence programs, and clinical trial enrollment related products/services to pharma/biotech.
- Experience in molecular biology with knowledge of drug discovery/development and/or diagnostics and platforms.
- Expertise across the biopharma value chain and drug development continuum (early research, development, medical, commercialization).
Preferred Qualifications
- MBA and/or MD or Ph.D. strongly preferred.
- Superior oral/written communication and negotiation skills.
- Motivated, self-initiated, goal-oriented, able to grow the business portfolio.
- Proven sales/business development experience with biopharma companies; ability to scale from modular sales to larger strategic partnerships.
- Team-oriented with a problem-solving mindset; collaboration-focused.
- Ability to develop materials (documents, presentations, etc.) for internal and external activities.
- Entrepreneurial mindset, strategic thinking, and adaptive, high-initiative approach.
- Some travel required (~30% with emphasis on regional partners).
Additional Requirements
- This position may require periodic travel and some evenings, weekends and/or holidays.
