Role Summary

Senior Director of Alliance Management, Cardiopulmonary & Ophthalmology, leading strategic alliances within the Cardiopulmonary and Ophthalmology area of the Innovative Medicine Group and coordinating cross-functional partners to drive development and commercialization goals.

Responsibilities

  • Lead strategic alliances within the Cardiopulmonary and Ophthalmology area of the Innovative Medicine Group.
  • Provide critical input for crafting partnerships and negotiating alliances, and lead post-deal strategic objectives.
  • Shape the relationship between partners and ensure day-to-day activities are delivered.
  • Establish clear communication lines across the partnership with internal and external stakeholders to anticipate and resolve potential issues.
  • Manage a portfolio of alliances with varying complexity, including direct reporting for multiple alliances.
  • Lead partnership integration through all phases of development and commercialization, including negotiating subsequent agreements and partnership ways of working.
  • Implement Alliance Management programmatic processes and tools appropriate to the alliance scope and needs.
  • Foster coordination and alignment of all internal and external partners to the alliance goals and objectives.
  • Participate as a member of internal and joint R&D and commercial project teams; facilitate joint alliance governance meetings and decisions.
  • Communicate openly, proactively, and clearly across all lines of the partnership, including Senior Management.
  • Anticipate and resolve issues and conflicts arising from changing priorities and events; monitor contract obligations, milestones, and partner satisfaction.

Qualifications

  • A BS degree is required.
  • An advanced degree (MS, MBA, Ph.D., etc.) in a scientific, technical or commercial field is preferred.
  • A minimum of 10 years related experience, working in a scientific, technical or commercial organization is required.
  • Experience in operations or program management is preferred.
  • Experience developing and managing timelines, budgets and similar details on multiple large-scale projects or in a significant line capacity is required.
  • Leadership experience, managing and working in a large Cross-Functional team environment is required, with a proven ability to mobilize and align diverse groups across multiple functions and companies to build interdependent partnerships with all organizational levels.
  • An understanding of drug development and global commercialization is required.
  • Demonstrated strengths in problem solving, negotiation, and decision making will be needed, in addition to experience in working with senior levels within the organization.
  • Excellent leadership and interpersonal skills as well as strong communication and listening skills are required.
  • Ability to manage Cross-Functional complexities, think strategically and exercise good judgment is required.
  • Travel up to 20% as required.
