Location: San Francisco headquarters (at least 3 days/week in office)
What Youβll Do
- Provide strategic leadership for a portfolio of alliances (clinical collaborations, co-development partnerships, commercial agreements), accountable for performance and value delivery.
- Establish and lead governance models; chair joint governance forums and cross-company teams to align priorities and drive execution.
- Define/maintain alliance strategic intent and multi-year operating plans; ensure alignment and regular updates to senior stakeholders.
- Own alliance health and long-term relationship outcomes, including amendment strategy and exit planning; proactively manage relationship risks and escalations.
- Oversee financial and non-financial obligations (quarterly partner financial reviews, forecasting, variance analysis with Finance).
- Ensure disciplined execution of contractual obligations (milestones, payments, supply commitments, performance terms), mitigating execution risks.
- Lead negotiations for amendments, extensions, and terminations with Legal/BD/functional leaders.
- Anticipate and manage alliance challenges from contractual interpretation, strategic misalignment, or operational dependencies.
- Improve alliance effectiveness through structured alliance health assessments and action plans.
Who You Are And What You Bring
- BA/BS (18+ years) or MS/MBA (16+ years) or PhD (13+ years) in senior pharmaceutical/life sciences leadership.
- 8+ years alliance management/partnering in biotech/pharma managing complex partnerships.
- Experience leading alliances with late-stage development assets; plus commercial-stage/product launch experience.
- Strong command of development, commercialization, and collaboration agreements; ability to interpret/negotiation/operationalize complex terms.
- Ability to lead through influence in a matrixed environment; strong strategic/analytical/problem-solving; collaborative leadership.
- Preferred: experience in infectious diseases and oncology.
