Role Summary
Senior Data Scientist, Generative AI – New Brunswick, NJ. Develop data science products and apply advanced Generative AI models to deliver high-impact solutions within Global Finance, collaborating with a global team of Data Scientists, Data Engineers, Finance Analysts and Machine Learning Engineers.
Responsibilities
- Develop data science solutions: understanding business problems, data processing, algorithms to discover trends, data visualization, generation of key insights, and communication to senior stakeholders.
- Employ Generative AI techniques to upgrade ML models into hybrid models, leveraging LLMs while mitigating hallucinations.
- Ensure GEN AI output adheres to rules and guidelines defined by legal, Compliance and IT.
- Write production-level and scalable code in Python or R.
- Implement machine learning and statistical models for Predictive, Time series forecasting, Decision Support, Gen AI, NLP, etc.
- Execute data science projects end-to-end: data acquisition, preprocessing, modeling, visualization, and integration with end-user systems.
- Develop data processing and modeling pipelines for large datasets from finance and ERP systems (e.g., SAP HANA).
- Present results and insights to senior leaders; use data visualization and dashboards for interactive presentations.
- Deploy analytical models into production with proper version control and documentation.
- Automate data pipelines and orchestrate workflows.
- Leverage robust data architecture and cloud-based stacks to support production-level work.
- Partner with cross-functional teams to ensure project success and adoption.
- Keep up to date with latest technology trends in data science and AI, including Generative AI.
- Collaborate in a global, agile team across multiple time zones, emphasizing innovation, teamwork, and inclusion.
- Advocate for data-driven insights across J&J’s Global Finance organization and understand the business to apply data science solutions effectively.
Qualifications
- Minimum of 5 years of relevant experience in an industry setting.
- Minimum of a Bachelor's degree required; preferred fields include Computer Science, Engineering, Data Science, Business Analytics, Science, Finance, or quantitative/STEM disciplines. Master’s degree preferred.
- Ability to work with a global team and drive for common goals.
- Experience executing data science projects from initiation through PoC to Production.
- Knowledge of Big Data, data pipelining, machine learning; intermediate software development and automation skills.
- Strong commercial focus with solid background in data science and ML/statistics.
- Finance or Commercial data science experience strongly preferred.
- Ability to collaborate with stakeholders (including senior executives) to identify needs and drive adoption of solutions.
- Experience in managing compliance adherence, risk management, and stakeholder commitments in large organizations.
