Senior Data Scientist-AI Solutions

Role Summary

Senior Data Scientist-AI Solutions responsible for designing analytics products and AI-driven insights to support clinical development and precision medicine. Leads cross-functional analytics initiatives, develops prototypes and ML methods, and establishes design principles to ensure consistent, high-quality work. Mentors junior team members and collaborates to evaluate clinical trial progress and emerging risks.

Responsibilities

• Connects with cross-functional teams to design work product and serves as an analytics consultant, anticipating and identifying issues that could affect timelines or quality and developing options and solutions
• Leads and helps establish design principles and standards to ensure analytical work product is consistent across projects and that user experience is optimized
• Develops prototypes, test methods and algorithms beyond standard statistical methods; leverages emerging statistical methodologies, ML and AI to drive innovative analytical solutions
• Enables data-driven insights to support the clinical development continuum, including precision medicine
• Ensures adherence to federal and local regulations, Good Clinical Practices, ICH Guidelines, AbbVie SOPs, and functional quality standards; stays abreast of evolving guidelines related to clinical development
• Identifies business needs and supports the creation of standard KPIs, reports, and statistical analyses
• Coaches and mentors junior team members
• Collaborates with cross-functional teams to strategize how analytics can evaluate clinical trial progress and facilitate discussions around emerging risks; applies machine learning techniques to validate assumptions and predict future behavior

Qualifications

• Required: 3-5 years of analytics-related experience in clinical research, including demonstrated high-level analytics and leadership competencies
• Required: Advanced proficiency in R, Python or other statistical packages; intermediate-level knowledge of statistical and data mining techniques
• Required: Expert proficiency with visualization tools such as Spotfire, Tableau or equivalent
• Required: Proven expertise with Machine Learning and other advanced analytics techniques
• Required: Demonstrated effective communication skills; ability to explain analytical and technical concepts in layman's terms
• Required: Demonstrated problem-solving and analytical skills
• Required: Demonstrated history of successful execution in a fast-paced environment with multiple priorities
• Preferred: Experience working in cloud computing environments (e.g., AWS, Azure)
• Preferred: 1+ years experience with agentic frameworks such as LangGraph, OpenAI agents, etc. (including orchestration with tool-use), LLMs, vector databases, and retrieval pipelines (RAG)

Education

• Bachelor’s degree in statistics, analytics, bioinformatics, data science or equivalent field; Master’s degree preferred
