Role Summary
Senior Data Scientist in the Global Finance Data Science Team responsible for delivering data science production processes to a high standard and providing insights to senior leadership. Works within a global team of Data Scientists, Data Engineers, and Machine Learning Engineers to advance the data science/AI roadmap for J&JβΓΓ΄s Global Finance function, delivering value-added analytics, automating manual workloads, and enhancing user experience. Applies machine learning, generative AI, and data from ERP systems to support technical accounting use cases and align finance needs with data-driven solutions.
Responsibilities
- Develop data science solutions based on the needs of business/finance stakeholders.
- Build and adjust data engineering pipelines for large datasets from finance/ERP systems and automate data science processes.
- Understand the nuances of accounting and finance data to apply appropriately in ML/AI models.
- Iteratively improve processes and models, testing and documenting changes, and aligning them within the team.
- Develop and deploy data science and AI solutions, including data processing, algorithm development, data visualization, and communicating insights to stakeholders.
- Research and implement statistical and machine learning models, monitor model performance, and continuously improve existing models.
- Collaborate with finance, commercial leaders, technology teams, and external partners to deliver end-to-end solutions, ensuring compliance and risk management.
- Experience with accounting data in SAP data tables and understanding their use within the accounting process.
- Proficiency in Python and data science cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, Databricks, Domino).
- Ability to work independently under time pressure to deliver processes and solve data issues in an explainable way.
- Skilled in data visualization and dashboarding using Tableau or PowerBI.
- Knowledge of advanced statistical techniques and concepts, such as regression, distributions, and statistical tests.
- Experience with end-to-end production deployment and Gen AI technologies (e.g., AWS Bedrock, Azure OpenAI, Joule).
- Familiarity with automated workflow tools (e.g., Alteryx) and orchestration tools (e.g., Airflow), plus documentation practices (JIRA, Confluence).
- Strong data analytics, meticulous attention to business/finance logic, and ability to engage multiple stakeholder levels to contextualize business drivers.
Qualifications
- Minimum of 5 years of Data Science/AI experience in an industry setting, preferably in Finance or Healthcare.
- Alternatively: 5+ years accounting experience with extensive use of advanced analytics and data-handling techniques.
- Minimum of Bachelors degree in Science, Economics, Business Analytics, Data Science, Finance, Computer Science, Engineering or related quantitative/STEM field; MasterβΓΓ΄s degree preferred.
Additional Requirements
- Located in New Brunswick, NJ with up to 5% travel.
