Role Summary
The Senior Cost Accountant will lead cost analysis, inventory costing, and financial reporting to support manufacturing operations and cost control. This role requires strong understanding of ERP/MRP systems, standard costing, and variance analysis, with a focus on continuous cost improvement and accurate financial reconciliation.
Responsibilities
- Request for Estimate (RFE) Process: conduct cost analysis and evaluate costs for new projects.
- Prepare site spend report and variance analysis.
- Prepare monthly spend journal entries (accruals, prepayments, allocation entries, etc.).
- Prepare site PPV report and variance analysis.
- Prepare monthly PPV journal entries.
- Defer and amortize manufacturing variance results.
- Support inventory related audit reports.
- Prepare inventory balance sheet account reconciliations in Blackline.
- Maintain standard cost and transfer prices.
- Reconcile inventory GL balances to subledger.
- Calculate and validate inventory return rate.
- Prepare sales and inventory PRIME report submissions and related reconciliations.
- Review inventory accounts and prepare reclassification entries/top-side adjustments as required.
- Perform inventory cycle counts and periodic counts as needed to support business.
- Perform product costing, variance analysis, and life cycle costing.
- Manage and perform continuous cost improvement activities.
- Provide ad-hoc reporting and on-demand data analytics.
- Process allocations, period, and adjustments.
- Post and reconcile intercompany transactions.
- Produce regulatory reports.
- Understand and perform cost structure and cost behavior analysis.
- Understand and maintain Item Masters, Bill of Materials and Routings.
- Perform standards maintenance and rate development, estimating & forecasting, data collection & labor reporting, projects and other analysis.
- Must be able to understand full ramifications of ERP systems well.
- Software Knowledge - Integrated ERP/MRP, Excel.
- Provide customer service and serve as liaison between Finance, Operations, and other depts.
- Review current departmental process for increased improvement and efficiency.
Qualifications
- Required: Bachelor's degree from a four-year college or university (Bachelorβs in accounting preferred).
- Required: Minimum 5β8 years of related experience.
- Required: Ability to think strategically and execute tactfully, results oriented.
- Preferred: Experience in cost accounting for manufacturing environments.
