Overview
- Manage litigation and claims involving US-based Sanofi entities across multiple practice areas, independently and with outside counsel and the US Litigation & Investigations group.
- Manage Sanofiβs Talc/Asbestos docket of cases.
- Provide business operational, promotional review, and bankruptcy advice to the corporate entity holding Talc/Asbestos liabilities.
Main Responsibilities
- Support a diverse caseload: Talc/Asbestos (primary), plus product liability, commercial litigation, environmental matters, bankruptcy, and assistance to other in-house counsel as needed.
- Supervise collection and production of documents while preserving all privileges.
- Effectively manage outside counsel spend.
- Analyze complex situations; develop and communicate strategies; execute plans.
- Maintain knowledge of the legal/regulatory environment and current developments.
- Advise senior Legal management on developments and risk areas.
- Resolve disputes via negotiation or mediation (with or without outside counsel).
- Participate in cross-functional teams; devise novel solutions.
- Demonstrate commitment to compliance; escalate issues internally and with outside counsel as appropriate.
- Perform other duties as requested.
Basic Qualifications
- BA/BS and Juris Doctorate from an accredited law school.
- 5β7 years of legal experience.
- Licensed to practice in a US state; in good standing in New Jersey or able to obtain a NJ limited license for in-house counsel.
- Proficiency with Word, PowerPoint, and other corporate standard software.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with a pharma/biotech company, FDA or relevant government agency, or a law firm working on healthcare-related matters.
