Brief Description
Reporting to the Chief Ethics and Compliance Officer, the Senior Compliance Officer, Global R&D and Tech Ops will identify, mitigate, and manage compliance and privacy related risks within the Global R&D and Tech Ops departments.
Job Responsibilities
- Serve as strategic business partner and risk advisor to R&D and Tech Ops across countries and therapeutic areas; provide updates on compliance risk areas, mitigation strategies, and dashboards showing compliance program effectiveness.
- Provide compliance advice and support to R&D and Tech Ops, including identifying, mitigating, and managing fraud/abuse and kickback risks tied to clinical trials and other development activities; support ethical decision-making in clinical trial protocol, strategy, and design; address trade sanctions-related risks.
- Serve as subject matter expert and coordinate with Global Policies, Education, and Investigations to develop global compliance/ethics policies and associated training materials for R&D and Tech Ops.
- Regularly conduct compliance training.
- Coordinate with Monitoring, Auditing, and Third-Party Risk Management to design and implement an effective monitoring and audit program for R&D and Tech Ops, with focus on compliance oversight of CROs and other partners.
- Act as a key member of the Ethics, Compliance, and Privacy lead team to drive consistency and advance departmental goals.
- Stay current on laws, regulations, and industry trends and ensure updates are reflected in compliance controls for R&D and Tech Ops.
- Coordinate and collaborate with Legal in support of R&D and Tech Ops.
- Assist department colleagues with additional projects as needed to achieve corporate objectives.
Requirements
- 8+ years of relevant compliance experience; at least 2 years supporting the R&D organization of a global pharmaceutical company.
- Solid judgment and business acumen; ability to assess compliance risks and mitigation strategies in the R&D/Tech Ops context.
- Strong knowledge of pharmaceutical/healthcare laws and regulations, particularly for R&D/Tech Ops; experience supporting global pharmaceutical operations.
- Experience working across multiple functions and geographies; high responsiveness and customer service orientation.
- Excellent oral and written communication; self-motivated and able to handle heavy workload; able to identify short/mid-term needs and manage responsibilities independently while facilitating teamwork.
- Ability to work accurately with appropriate urgency in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong interpersonal skills (diplomacy, flexibility, collaboration); ability to interface across all organizational levels and with external parties; culturally adaptable.
- Travel required.
