Role Summary

Senior Clinical Development Medical Director with responsibility across dermatology and autoimmune clinical drug development from discovery through Phase 3. The role leads one or more studies within the portfolio, collaborates with cross-functional asset teams, and shapes clinical strategies to advance programs. Location: South San Francisco, CA with onsite Tue–Thu; open to remote applicants with monthly onsite requirement.

Responsibilities

  • Broadly represent the interests of Alumis as a senior leader and spokesperson for Clinical Development within the fields of Dermatology and Immunology
  • Provide leadership in the management and oversight of the global ESK-001 Phase 3 program in plaque psoriasis, leading one or more studies
  • Effectively contribute to cross-functional teams within Research, Biomarkers, Medical Affairs, Commercial, and Study Team as an expert within the Dermatology therapeutic area and broadly across immune mediated inflammatory diseases
  • Support the clinical Science function contributing to the design and development of novel clinical studies and cross-functional initiatives
  • Provide strategic support and implement clinical strategies across early and late stage clinical development programs
  • Coach, manage, inspire, and support team members to achieve business goals by leveraging an entrepreneurial and collaborative mindset
  • Maintain the highest levels of integrity within development and standards for scientific inquiry in drug development
  • Collaborate with CRO to provide medical monitoring oversight for the Phase 3 program
  • Support the planning and execution of publication plan and data generation, as well as submission activities

Qualifications

  • MD or ex-US equivalent with board certification or eligibility in Dermatology or in a related immunology disease area with > 5 years of drug development experience (data review, CRF query handling, medical monitoring, writing papers)
  • Notable communication skills with credibility to interface with Key Opinion Leaders, external health organizations and regulators within Dermatology
  • Ability to interact effectively in a cross-functional setting
  • Strong interpersonal, influencing, presentation, and communications skills (written and verbal) to effectively address all levels within an organization
  • Ability to assess, understand, and communicate continuously expanding medical and scientific information, as well as knowledge of commercial dynamics impacting drug development
  • Strong business acumen and ability to collaborate with cross-functional partners to achieve enterprise goals
  • Effective negotiation skills that enable the candidate to influence without authority
  • Proven professional track record of strategic, organizational, and executional skills to support project planning across multiple activities, with the ability to anticipate and prioritize one’s workload across multiple projects of equal importance
  • Ability to work across diverse teams in a matrixed organizational structure, both as a leader and as part of a cross-functional team
  • Approaches deliverables in an organized manner with attention to detail and is able to meet timelines in a fast-paced environment
  • Able to work autonomously and with a high level of independence
